I don't know if everyone has seen the video of the off road race in which several spectators were unfortunately killed. But, in watching that video, I can't help but feel like I was witnessing the annual Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Hundreds of fans were tightly lined on both side of a dark dusty limited vision dirt track, in which barely controllable, off road vehicles roared by at frightening speeds. Wasn't it obvious to people that they can be hit and killed? I find it miraculous that only eight people died. Supposedly, the organizers of the race had rules in place that may have helped to prevent the tragedy; but, they certainly didn't enforce any of them. At any rate, the crowds appeared to have simply ignored or where wholly ignorant of them. Many of the spectators were also engaged in alcohol consumption as empty beer containers were strewn throughout the track. California needs to ban this and other events of this type. Other states should heed this as a wake up call and examine their own off road entertainment venues for such inherently dangerous potentials.
