one of my friends is leaving the country to work, anyone have any ideas for a gift? max 80cdn...it's a girl, alot more than acquaintance, and not girl friend...got about a week...any suggestions will be appreciated.
When one of ma female friend were leaving the country i made her this diary...and got all her good frens to write and sign in it...I decorated the diary myself...I then included the happy pictures that we took together and with other frens just so that she remembers us...Yeah...thats what i gave...But, in ur case if u plan to give her nething like that include a BFF note on the bottom saving you the pain of future misunderstandings...-innocent2
err is she planning to come back after working overseas...as in you are going to see her again? coz when my friend left for work he would come back occassionally for holidays to visit me and my family...i think we treated him for dinner with a group of people, and all of us gave him little gifts and cards etc before he left
Get her something she can't get where she's going. She'll miss life here and your gift will remind her of home, putting he at ease?
You could get her something to remind her of all the good times she and you and other close buddies had spent together, like a photo scrapbook with little messages on each picture. Or a piece of jewellry that can be engraved with some type of nice phrase so she'll remember all the good times like 'best buds' so she won't misunderstand like pinkapples said above.
Where will she be going? Cuz you can think of a present that relates to the country she's going to. Is she a reader? Get her the book 'Oryx and Crake' by Canadian writer Margaret Atwood. Or go to those gadget presents sites and pick a cool gadget for her. This for example: Transformers Light Up Flashing T-Shirt or a Dead Fred Pen Holder -lol Just browse for ideas, since the site in the links are from a UK based company.
Gifts I received and really loved: - Lonely planet of Sydney.. of course u would be buying the one of the city shes going to It has all the hot spots of all cities all over the world - A photo collage... its really cheap but i really loved it... It was A3 size and there were all little pictures of me and my friends on it =)... it does take quite some time to make it though... - A small stuffed doll... sounds cliche.... not sure if shes that kind of girl...but i loved it and brought it with me... - A phone charm What u shouldnt buy: Stuff that are heavy or big and take too much space in her suitcase..
what a huge vase.....hahahaha.....in her handbag....mebe she can fold it up and put in her pocket eh.....-lol
^ hahahahaha.......so we're moving into the territory of things she'll find useful yet small and compact eh....hmmm......im thinking them inflatelable sofas -rotfl
no jewlery, you'll freak her out making her think your after her I agree with brown_bear, if she's travelling something compact i suggest food, something that's solely canadian that she loves to eat, but will not be able to get other there it's got a nostalgic feel to it, and it's something that they wont have to worry about carring around too much after they move it could be like a snack for the plane oh that's a good one a little grab bag for the plane fill it food to eat and different things she can use to do while wasting many hours traveling, like a CD and one of those mini hand held electronic games
