12/11/2008 4:10:00 PM. | Richard Maxton A woman addicted to plastic surgery has been horrifically scarred after injecting cooking oil into her own face in a botched attempt to perform her own cosmetic procedures. Hang Mioku, 48, becamed hooked after her first plastic surgery 20 years ago, moving to Japan a few years later to satisfy her addiction. After undergoing multiple surgeries, Hang was eventually barred by Japanese doctors, who warned she might be suffering from a psychological disorder. Hang moved back to Korea where her parents, who initially didn't recognise their daughter, persuaded her to seek treatment for her addiction. However, after stopping therapy due to high costs, Hang managed to find a doctor who was willing to give her silicone injections. She was also given a syringe and her own supply of silicone so she could perform her own injections. It was when her silicone supply ran out that Hang resorted to injecting cooking oil into her cheeks, bloating her face beyond recognition and discolouring her already damaged skin. The Daily Telegraph in London reports her face became so large compared to her small body that local children began calling her "standing fan". Hang's appearances on Korean TV caused viewers to donate money for surgery to try to reduce the size of her face. The initial procedure alone saw over a quarter of a kilogram of foreign matter removed from Hang's face. This is sad, but not new. Michael Jackson is but one famous celebrity who is addicted to cosmetic surgery, another being Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein (aka "The Bride of Wildenstein"). The problem here is that people who have money use it to insulate themselves from objective (and sobering) criticism. These people are often emotionally dissatisfied with themselves and seek to create a new person to live in. However, their complaint is emotional, hence any change physically will almost always result in the change not being good enough, and the desire to alter their appearance once more. Despite their eventual disfigurement, they supposedly don't recognize it as such. This is similar to anorexics who think themselves fat while the rest of the world easily sees them as emaciated walking dead. What is really sad too is the willingness of money hungry plastic surgeons who cater to this horrific illness as a business. This is one instance in which having a lot of money will do you more harm than good. -dead

That is really unfortunate for her and I think whoever that doctor is that supplied her with the silicon and tools to inject herself needs to have his license taken away.
unless im more immigrant than i thought i was... its not the silicone stuff that caused her face to become like that...she ran outta that stuff so its the cooking oil
that is pretty distrubing...but i want to know is how the cooking oil is doing that to her face causing it look bloated and liquidy
