Sweetness in the Salt’s airing is untimely, its ratings cannot match Rosy Business

TVB recently consecutively broadcasted two series with the title of “Hiu” – Rosy Business and the currently airing Sweetness in the Salt. Because both are the production of the Golden Producer Lee Tim Sing, and the former’s peak rating has reached 47 points, becoming the highest-rated series of 2009 as of now, comparison is naturally inevitable. However, yesterday, reporters were informed from TVB that Sweetness in the Salt, which have aired for two weeks had failed its mission. Last week average ratings remained at 27 points, draw with the first week. Its peak rating is also only 31 points, whereas Rosy Business’ ratings had skyrocketed in its second week. The discrepancy is obviously very big.

Originally, Sweetness in the Salt was decided not to be broadcasted in Hong Kong. TVB originally intended it to sell it away only. Unexpectedly, Rosy Business became the ratings black horse, causing TVB to suddenly change its decision and broadcast the series in the period where Rosy Business’ great heat has not dissipated. In response to the result of the “Hiu” label now not meeting its expectation, reporters had interviewed Producer Lee Tim Sing, he said: “It can’t beat it. Because Sweetness in the Salt is actually filmed before Rosy Business. The script was written two years ago. A lot has changed in two years, audiences also have higher requirements now. If Sweetness in the Salt was broadcasted as soon as it finished filming, the result maybe better. Now, two years have passed. Additionally, Rosy Business has grabbed the limelight of being broadcasted first. If we say that this does not have any effect on the latter aired, we are fooling ourselves and others.” In response to the current ratings, the Producer expressed that it’s reasonable. He even said that it’s not too possible for it to beat Rosy Business’ ratings, because Rosy Business’ ratings were that high due to having the right person at the right place at the right time, so it wasn’t easy.

After experiencing Rosy Business’ small climax in ratings, TVB’s ratings fell again recently, last week Threshold of A Persona’s average ratings were only 29 points, peaking at 31 points; Beautiful Cooking’s average ratings were 32 points, peaking at 34 points. 《星星同学会》has the average rating of 26 points and peak of 28 points. 《千奇百趣》which replaced 《谜》only had the average rating of 24 points and peak of 25 points.
