Tang Wei returns to the silver screen and goes on blind-date with Jacky Cheung

Tang was made (in)famous for her role as Wang Chia Chi in "Lust, Caution" last year. She was a student activist who seduced a Chinese intelligence official collaborating with Japanese forces during World War II in Shanghai. It was reported that Beijing authorities told television stations in Beijing and Shanghai to stop reporting on the actress and to pull out advertisements which featured her, because the movie was deemed to be "glorifying unpatriotic behavior".

Her artiste management company has since been trying to work about the ban by having her apply for Hong Kong citizenship through the "Quality Migrant Admission Scheme". While she was put under the media ban, Tang wisely spent the time upgrading herself in a drama course in London and participated in English plays, seemingly preparing to enter the international film market.
The new movie directed by Ivy Ho will cast Cheung as a young master of an electronics shop owner; he is a man who stands aloof from worldly strife, no ambitions but kind-hearted. One day, he was forced to go on a blind-date with a salesgirl of the toiletries shop, Tang Wei, and though the date fell through, they developed an extraordinary friendship.
"I'm looking forward to working with Ivy and Jacky. My character in this movie is rather comedic. I hope to give the audience a refreshing experience," Tang said.
