This Pontiff has been a long time in coming. Rather than be a copy of all the Popes before him, Francis has shown that he is responsive to the needs to the many in his flock rather than to the needs of the established order. He's essentially laid down a social change gauntlet which by no means is sitting well with the long established conservative block of the church.
