The reasons why you should look forward to BoA’s American advance

The blueprint to BoA’s American advance was revealed on the 10th during a press conference “Best of Asia, Bring on America”.

BoA will be entering through the American mainstream pop market, using the strategy similar to that of her Japanese advance.

However, with the news of BoA’s advance into the American market, there are also a lot of officials in the Kpop scene who have voiced their worries about the plan.

Singers like Rain and Se7en and Im Jung Hee who has all declared to advance into the market with local pop music, has yet receive a clear response to their targeted fans and market. Not only for Korean singers, Japanese popular singer Utada Hikaru attempted to break into the American pop music market but the response to that was not heated. As much as these artistes had set down their strategies to break into the market thoroughly, just like BoA, the American pop market gave a feeling of impenetrability to Asian singers.

However, BoA’s company SM Entertainment which had accumulated much know-how in advancing into foreign music markets these years, will send go ahead BoA to America to attempt advancing into the mainstream market with their company’s best staff following along.

And today at about 2pm in Seoul Imperial Paris hotel, the staff that will work together with BoA on her new endeavor were revealed, casting new expectations and anticipation to BoA’s advance into America.

At the conference, the single title song ‘Eat you up’ was revealed. The song is produced by Bloodshy & Avant, who also composed songs for stars Britney Spears and Madonna’s songs.

Bloodshy & Avant, native Sweden, produced many hit songs like Britney Spears‘ ‘Toxic’ and ‘Do Something’, Madonna’s ‘How High’ and Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Brave’. BoA’s choregrapher, who did dance choreography for Justin Timberlake and Beyonce, Misha Gabriel was also revealed.

However good the music is, a good management is also important for BoA’s success. One of the reasons to why BoA’s Japanese advance was such a success is because she was under the management of Avex, who also manage Japan’s best singers.

Many Korean singers, though they speak fluent English and have great songs from famous American producers, failed to make it bigger in the American as they did not have a good local management for support. The point that good connections in the American market was repeatedly emphasized during the press conference.

Lee Soo Man announced that BoA will under the management of Max Gousse (who were responsible for stars like Justin Timberlake and Beyonce, Jay Z and Pop Daddy) and SM USA.

And with the support of the American market’s top artiste management team, there is much talk about the possibility of BoA’s success and gaining recognition in the market.

Max Gousse said, “(BoA is) one very fine and talented singer. And one of the best female dancers I have seen around”. And one of the helpers to the company’s production work Hayden Bell also said, “We are much confident that BoA will make it big as a singer in America.”

Also another American record label Universal has also voiced their support for BoA’s advance into America.

BoA advanced into the Japanese market in 2002, has all her 7 albums on the Oricon Weekly album chart. And on this day, about 40 media representatives were present at the press conference, all who are concerned about the plan of BoA’s American advance.
