Andy Lau (劉德華) has released the theme song for his upcoming movie The Bodyguard <特工爺爺>, which opens in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China on April 1, 2016. The action-drama film stars Sammo Hung (洪金寶), who also directs, as a retired bodyguard suffering from early dementia. Andy Lau produces and co-stars. The song, “Forgive Me” <原諒我> has lyrics written by Andy and music co-composed by Malaysian songwriters, Yi Jet-qi (易桀齊) and Chet Ng (伍冠諺). The lyrics express the regret and helplessness of losing love, which echoes the events that Sammo’s character, Old Ding, has to experience throughout the film. In the movie, Sammo is a retired bodyguard suffering from early dementia. Because of his fading memory, he loses his granddaughter. He then meets a young girl by the name of Chunhua, the daughter of his next-door neighbor (Andy Lau), and strikes a close friendship with her. However, her father’s involvement in the China-Russia border conflict and the crime lords have put Chunhua’s life in danger, and Old Ding uses anything he can to save her. Sammo stars and directs The Bodyguard, his first directorial movie since 1997’s Once Upon a Time in China and America <黃飛鴻之西域雄獅>. Andy is credited as the main producer, in addition to making a special appearance in the film. Also co-starring in the film is Hu Jun (胡軍), Feng Shaofeng (馮紹峰), Eddie Peng (彭于晏), Tsui Hark (徐克), and some of the members from Sammo’s Seven Little Fortune classmates, including Yuen Biao (元彪), Yuen Qiu (元秋), and Yuen Wah (元華).
