Does anyone know if there are any programs out there that can translate the contents of a running application on-the-fly ? For example I have a Chinese application with all these beautiful symbols, is there something to translate the contents of the windows to English ? Before anyone suggests this, no ... it is not possible to copy and paste from these windows. Think about stuff like menus in applications.
It doesn't seem to do what I want. I have used NJStar in the past when I was using a Windows XP with default language set to English. You would get all these unreadable characters instead of Chinese symbols. With NJStar you could make the unreadable characters into proper Chinese symbols again. Now I have a Windows XP with default language set to Chinese, so I can see all menus etc with proper Chinese symbols. NJStar doesn't seem to make it possible to translate the application to English, or maybe I don't know how to properly work with NJStar -what?
Google and Kingsoft Launch Free Chinese Dictionary Google and Kingsoft launched a free Chinese-English-Chinese dictionary. Now go and read the Chinese bbs yourself to really find out what’s going on in China. If you install it on a non-Chinese operating system you probably see a lot of weird symbols (not Chinese but more machine language like), on the first page of the install, tick the box (you probably agree of giving away your privacy to Kingsoft and Google and whoever else is listening in) and then continue with clicking wherever it shows a (n) on a button. Try this website by kingsoft and download the software. http://www.chinasnippets.com/2008/05/08/google-kingsoft-chinese-dictionary/
Thanks, but I'm looking for something a bit more automatic. To illustrate what I need, please take a look at the attached pics. I need some utility that translates the application from Chinese to English on-the-fly.
Try this website and see if this will fit what you're looking for [FONT=Arial, Helvetica][SIZE=-1]EICQ is the automatic machine translation software product and translation web service, enabling real-time translation of documents, websites and emails, as well as multilingual messaging and communication through Internet. Just install the kingsoft and point the mouse at the word or paragraph that need to be translated and it will show the meaning of the translated text in english for u or vice versa
Kingsoft Google is all in Chinese, so it kind of defeats the purpose for me since I cannot read Chinese. If I understood correctly, EICQ seems to be something for translating web pages and documents. I need to translate applications though. For example imagine you have your Chinese Windows which has everything in Chinese (Start button etc.), I need a tool that will translate those things for me to English. In the case of Windows you have the Multi-Language Pack that will change your Windows language more-or-less on the fly. Just to be clear, I have an English Windows with default language set to Chinese (so I can see proper Chinese symbols instead of unreadable characters).
I have an English Windows with default language set to Chinese too. And this is how i use kingsoft to translate chinese to english to understand it and maybe learn the character as well
