pretty cool but not when you wanna actually see the things on the screen and not look through glass lol, but still could add a cover or something. but besides being pretty cool in concept, i don't find a transparent computer screen that appealing and useful lols.

P.s. the pics are most likely optical illusions anyways.

i highly doubt that's a transparent lcd screen. It's probably a picture of the object like the lower portion of that soda bottle taken before hand, opened on the screen, and then placed near the real object as to make it look like transparent.

the official method of doing so, first suggested by veincentury...

"To do this, set your camera on some sort of stand or tripod. I just propped a few books on a table. Position the camera so that you have it where you want the picture to look like, and then leave it absolutely still. Turn on the self-timer function of your camera - it will increase the sharpness of the picture, because there is no chance of your hand shaking while pressing the button or holding the camera, and you will get the absolute best (least blurry) picture by doing this.

Now take two pictures. In the first one, have the laptop open and ready, and then press the button and wait for the self timer to go off. Then, as soon as you press the camera button the second time, run over and shut the laptop lid before the self timer runs out. Now you have two pictures, exactly identical except one has a closed laptop and the other has it open.

Now go into Photoshop. Import the closed laptop scene as a background layer and the open laptop scene as a foreground layer. Now just use the eraser tool, and select+cut tools, to chop out the area of the screen, and the background layer will automatically be inserted into that erased area, creating the effect of a see-through laptop screen.

Suggestions for other really cool pictures: try doing this with something else - a palm pilot, where you see your hand and the floor (assuming you take the picture from eye level looking down as you hold it in your hand - it's a hard shot to take two identical pictures, removing the palm for the second picture, but it's possible). Also, you could take close-ups of the screen of your laptop using the method above, and then only erase the desktop area, leaving the icons and the taskbar (and maybe a program on the screen), as if your background is set to "physically transparent".

Anyway, have fun with whatever you do, and post your images here! I'm sure anything you guys do will be better than mine, cause I pretty much suck at photoshop (it's pretty obvious if you look at that picture closely).

Also one last note, before anyone asks: you can notice the blue reflection in the laptop and in the chair. Somehow, the camera exposes my screen as blue (does it send out ultraviolet rays? I have no idea) but my screen was black when I took the picture. Next time, I'll take the shot in daylight so there are no noticeable reflections, but this was certainly weird. Maybe someone knows something about this effect and can explain it, because I'm baffled but not to the point to actually pursue an explanation. I think it looks kinda cool with reflections of a nonexistant screen anyway..."
