The filming for Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II> could not come at a better time for Fala Chen (陳法拉). With a love for travel, natural landscapes, and new adventures, Fala had the excuse to explore four different countries while filming for the pilot drama last year. Traveling with a crew of close friends and costars, it was a filming experience that Fala will never forget. Having recently ended her management contract with TVB, Fala is now free from long-hour work obligations. She wrote down a list of which countries she would like to visit next and enjoys the excitement of packing and booking flight tickets. To Fala, traveling is not just a hobby, but a philosophy. Traveling is a way for her to “cleanse myself, to be relieved of my work in Hong Kong, to let go of worries, and to leave this environment. It is similar to the process of trying to get out of character after shooting a drama. [Traveling] helps me start over again. Vacation is not the time for me to play around at nightclubs, but to enjoy the scenery, to eat some delicious food, to watch television, and just be lazy!” Traveling is not a time for Fala to spend another honeymoon with boyfriend Daniel Sit (薛世恒), but a time for her to settle down and hang out with friends, family, and just have a great time. Traveling is Fala’s chicken soup for the soul. The independent girlfriend is not worried about “deserting” Daniel with her impulsive traveling. “We can always contact each other online! Everything can be done on the Internet.” Fala has a habit of traveling independently, which she has been doing since her college years in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, Fala has become even more impetuous in her travels. “If I do not have to work in the next few days, I will feel the urge [to travel] and immediately book my flight tickets. It makes me even happier to be this impulsive. “I cannot stay still and I do not like to repeat myself. I tend to travel to places where I have never been to before, but there aren’t many places left for me to visit, except for the southern hemisphere.” Although Fala likes to spend time alone, she admitted that she is a woman who often has internal struggles with herself. Fala described herself as “feminine, sometimes even weak,” and expressed that she is someone who needs a sense of security to feel at peace. “I am a Pisces, so I can get very emotional.
