Since ancient times, people have envisioned life in the future. Embracing the future, TVB filmed a special 80 second video clip featuring artists such as Ron Ng, Myolie Wu, Raymond Lam, Bosco Wong, Bowie Lam, Fala Chen, Shirley Yeung, Suki Chui, Yoyo Chen, Kate Tsui, Steven Ma, Elaine Yiu, Nancy Wu, Linda Chung, Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma, Matthew Ko, Angela Tong, Sharon Chan, Lai Lok Yi, Vivien Yeo, Charles Szeto, etc. celebrating Lunar New Year in year 2107!

The preparation for the 80 second ad started in December 2006, due to the time required for computer-generated graphics. Normally graphics of this nature take 3-4 months, but TVB's Creative Imaging Department was able to finish the task in 1 month!

Caption #1: Myolie Wu demonstrates how to make white radish cake. The telephone rings and it's Steven Ma and Kate Tsui sending their New Year greetings via virtual conference!

Caption #2: Charles Szeto, Leanne Li, Lai Lok Yi, Vivien Yeo, etc. entice a golden dragon from a globe. Two dragons fly into the sky, attracting a large audience.

Due to the proximity in dates between Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day, TVB produced 2 special video ads envisioning the holidays in the future. The Valentine's Day ad featured Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Linda Chung Ka Yan, while "New Year in the Future" featured TVB's young generation of artists.

TVB hopes that Hong Kong will continue to prosper 100 years from now, in the year 2107. TVB envisioned what the future will look like. Perhaps our means of transportation will change to a flying "moped" and our New Year greetings may take place virtually. Over the last one thousand years, Lunar New Year has always been celebrated festively and happily. In the future, this will not change either!

Caption #4: Pang Koon Kei, Rocky Cheung, Bowie Lam, Steven Huynh (Wong Cheung Hing), and Francois Huynh (Wong Cheung Fat) appear in the sky, adding to the festive spirit of the holiday.

Caption #5: People in different regions watch an impressive fireworks show, including Nancy Wu, Sharon Chan, Angela Tong, and Elaine Yiu.

Caption #6: Charmaine Li, Erica Yuen, Matthew Ko, and Lee Tin Cheung also experience the magical wonder. In the future, Hong Kong in the year of 2107 will continue to prosper!

    An Inside Look:
Myolie Makes a New Kind of White Radish Cake

In the future, people have expectations of healthy and easy-to-prepare food. Myolie demonstrated a new method of making white radish cake. First she placed a small square of cake on a new stove top and the white radish cakes are ready in seconds!

n the future, transportation should be convenient and harmless to the environment. In 2107, the world's oil supply has been depleted. TVB designed a stylish moped used for travel, called the TVB-168. This moped featured TVB's logo and was cast in various promotional ads during the New Year!

During the filming of the ad, an actual moped was built and computer graphics were added later. Four versions of the moped were built before the final one was selected. The computer graphics for this segment of the video took 2 weeks to finish.

Raymond Lam demonstrated how the video footage and computer graphics were combined onscreen.

    Virtual New Year Greetings

It would be great to send virtual New Year greetings in the future, with the ability to actually exchange gifts. Of course for children, this means they will be able to receive their lucky packets virtually as well!

For the ad, Steven Ma and Kate Tsui were filmed against a green screen first. The image was then mapped onto footage featuring Ron Ng and Myolie Wu, to produce a virtual effect. Steven Ma was taught by the production crew how to position himself to achieve the best virtual results.

Interior Design 100 Years From Now

The motto for interior design in the future would be simple and environmentally friendly. Lunar New Year is normally dominated by the color red, but this interior design look is simple, yet warm.
