Ron Ng, Hacken Lee, Tavia Yeung and Wu Fung attended TVB's Long Term Service and Outstanding Staff Award Ceremony Dinner last night. Speaking about TVB's plan to lay off employees, Hacken said the employees can only take what has been said. (Do you agree with Michael Miu that the company has no sense of honor?) Hacken responsed, "This issue is very awkward and sensitive and I don't know what to say. I just hope they don't fire me." Ron did not want this to happen, because everyone has to provide for the families. He said that the company had been on tenterhooks, and he felt bad for the lay off because he could not help at all. Tavia said that lay off people from time to time, it wouldn't affect the overall work spirit, and there will be a way out for the victims. When she was acknowledged that actors are excluded from the lay off, she said, "I am relieved!" Wu Fung hoped that the number of people being lay off will be kept to a minimum. TVB is being run to the ground by the gm stephen chan .. I am surprised no one has question about his management and get him kick out of office .. is he another someone with connection?? It's more than obvious that this guy can't handle the company. he's a fucking IDIOT.
Whatever it is... TVB is still a corporate business.. so when times or bad... every companies will think of ways to cut its expenditure.....
Don't underestimate Stephen Chan. He uses quite strategic methods to make TVB more popular, controlling which artistes get to stay....just watch "Be My Guest" and you can tell the way in which he 'shakes' answers out of guests. He has been previously employed in the British Consulate. TVB is a public corporation and must serve for the shareholders' benefit. I am no supporter but laying off employees in a large coorporation is a natural phenomenon in the economic crisis.
Not about honour or being nice etc, if they cnt afford to keep paying pple they have to lay some off, its the same everywhere!
i'm not suprised by them doing this. right now even as a public company they have to take care of their people and make sure that they can weather out this big storm. Also right now we don't know if TVB is shouldering a lot of debt or having financial issues themselves but they gotta do what they gotta do to keep them afloat people in hong kong are losing jobs left and right so i hope the markets pick up and people can stop losing their jobs
