TVB's 45th Anniversary Lighting Ceremony

TVB kicked off the celebration of the 45th Anniversary with a light up ceremony and used the opportunity to promote their four heavyweight dramas, The Confidant <大太監>, Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族>, The Last Steep Ascent <天梯>, and Highs and Lows <雷霆掃毒>. It was a special gathering in which more than a hundred artists attended.

Two-time TV King, Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and veteran actor Damien Lau (劉松仁 ) were placed at the center of the group photo of the two anniversary series. Lovers, Moses Chan (陳豪 ) and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺 ), flirted in front of the audience and gave many photo opportunities for the media. The star-studded 45th Anniversary lighting ceremony gave a sneak preview of the exciting upcoming awards show in December.

Raymond Lam Delivers Opening Act

Raymond Lam (林峯 ) opened the lighting ceremony with a special performance. Based on the examples of past opening performances, Raymond’s chance of winning the Most Popular Hong Kong Artist Award in this year’s Jade Solid Gold <勁歌金曲> is highly possible. Raymond said, “Thanks for boosting my confidence. Since Highs and Lows is the last on the list of shows to preview during the awards show, this will allow me plenty of time to change after the opening act.” Raymond also mentioned he was asked to perform in the opening act only several days ago.

Wayne Lai Remains TV King Favorite

Former TV King and heavy favorite for this year’s title, Wayne Lai, finally drew one of the 45 lucky stars after 15 years of drought, and this could be a lucky omen for another TV King award. Wayne was asked if he has confidence to win the award this year during the ceremony. He replied, “I feel I have a 50/50 chance of winning the award, but I really like the setting of The Confidant.”

Wayne’s costar, Michelle Yim (米雪), the favorite for this year’s TV Queen award also said, "If we were to win the awards, I certainly won’t mind at all!”

Moses Chan and Aimee Chan Flirt Openly

To promote the series, The Last Steep Ascent, Moses Chan and Aimee Chan performed a Chinese wedding tradition by kicking the door of a bridal sedan chair. The emcee of the ceremony, Carol “Dodo” Cheng (鄭裕玲) teased the couple by joking, “You guys are flirting with each other in front of the viewers, getting married soon?” The couple replied afterwards that they were just trying to make the show more fun and enjoyable, but did not expect Dodo to come up with an impromptu joke.

Moses said not all the cast members were present, including the leading actress Maggie Cheung (張可頤), to promote the series, so they have to work even harder. When asked about winning the awards together at this year award show, Moses said “We both have a laid back attitude towards winning the awards.”
