Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) invited his Short End of the Stick <公公出宮> costars over to his house to watch the premiere episode on February 9, 2016. Those who went to Wayne’s dinner party included John Chiang (姜大偉), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Raymond Cho (曹永廉), Power Chan (陳國邦), and Power’s three-year-old daughter, Jan. Short End of the Stick tells the comedic story of four expelled palace eunuchs who struggle to make ends meet in the “real world.” They are sold as servants to the matriarchal Kam family, and get tangled in their family affairs. Wayne said last week that he would invite the cast over to his home to support the series premiere when he promoted the show in Tseung Kwan O. Because it’s airing over the Lunar New Year holiday week, low premiere viewership ratings are expected for Short End of the Stick. However, Wayne said he is not worried about the dip in ratings, and joked that he would quit showbiz if the show fails to achieve 20 rating points. TVB’s other new comedy drama, the cop series K9 Cop <警犬巴打>, also premiered on February 9, and aired after Short End of the Stick.
