Wednesday, February 14, 2007 Beijing Being the first film to premiere on Chinese New Year, 'Twins Mission' held a press conference in Beijing yesterday. Starring Twins, the duo obviously attended; this film is also a film that they have collaborated on since 'The Twins Effect II' back in 2004. The collaborations of films between the two are little, and the duo expressed that it is because scripts that suit both of them are very limited. However, it seems as though 'Twins Mission' was specially written for them; its plot revolves around a story of the 'Twins Clan'. The group, Twins, have been pressured with the rumours of splitting for the whole six years they were together for. During the press conference yesterday, reporters brought it up again, and they specifically mentioned that within the six years of Twins, Twins have only collaborated on six films. "It is because our tastes in films are different; it is difficult to find scripts suitable for both of us." Charlene revealed that she likes films of either literary arts or comedy, "I prefer to let people, who are usually pressured from life, release some loud laughter after seeing my films. Gillian's preference is different; she likes films of either action or romance. Thus, it is hard for us to be satisfied with a script together." In the film, Charlene plays 珍珠, and she is the quieter one of the pair of twins. She and her older sister, 宝珠, played by Gillian, both work in the circus. Because of the different personalities of the characters, Charlene's fighting scenes are less than Gillian's, but even the limited fighting scenes can be said as a difficulty towards Charlene. "My muscles and bones are all quite hard, so doing the stunts in difficult for me. When I can't do them properly, I would just walk off and throw a temper tantrum." Thinking back to her embarassing moments when filming the fighting scenes, Charlene suddenly started laughing. During these few years, Charlene and Gillian collaborate a lot in music, but their on-screen collaborations are quite limited. Because of this, rumours of the duo splitting appear once again. Charlene explained that, the division in films is just for the horizons of acting to broaden for both of them. In music, the two of them are Twins, a duo, so film directors usually want to have them be like Twins in films, and 'Twins Mission' is a good example. In contrast, developing their acting careers separately allows them to try out more characters. "Hopefully, our films can get rid of the Twins image." Charlene said. In comparison, Gillian has more fighting scenes in the film. Many of those scenes require her to hang from a wire. Gillian revealed that this film has allowed her to have a memory that she will never forget, and that is her first time crying because of hanging from a wire. Gillian frankly expressed, although she has become more agile with her movements since 'The Twins Effect' from the practice, the whole hour of hanging from a wire was still too much for her to handle. "I remember that I was hung for many times, and the wire got tighter and tighter. Afterwards, I couldn't move my legs at all, and I couldn't exert any strength. When I couldn't take it anymore, I just began crying." Towards Gillian crying from hanging from wires, the director, Kong Dao Hoi, appreciated how professional she was. He revealed that he did not even know that Gillian's body could not handle it anymore, "When looking at the camera, her expression was still so strong and tough. However, once we let her down, she started crying!" On March 8th, 'Slam Dunk', starring Charlene and Jay Chou, will beginning its filming in ShangHai. When asked of this film, Charlene appeared to be very excited, "I really anticipated this film ever since receiving the invitation. I'm very happy that I am able to portray the woman behind Jay Chou's back." Seeing her partner's anticipation, Gillian appears to wish for the same opportunities. She expressed, "I actually have always hoped to star in a romance film, but it seems like I don't get many chances to it. As of now, I still have not starred in any scenes that required extremely deep romantic emotions." credits: dailypost, asianfantics.
awww Gillian cried... she should've said something like put me down... i can't stand it anymore. Slam Dunk seems quite interesting with both Jay Chou and Charlene.
