I hate University. You pay ~$6000 to sit in a class for a maximum of 3 hours where most professors read off the textbook (textbooks cost so much too!) and/or slideshow when we can do this ourselves. There is barely any teaching at all. Not all, but most professors are just LAZY. All they do is tell you to come to their office for any help. Most of my professors claim that there's a lot of work to go through and just goes through the textbook instead of answering our questions. Anyone else experience this or is it just me?
im so pissed off that tuition increases each year and there is no option for me to quit now since im half way...................i just paid 5600 tuition only.. like WTF!!! im not even in university.....and i do nothing in skool...i just get a pasing mark and im happy....and i have to stil pay a $500 co-op fee which is BS they didnt' even help me...must take revenge
wow its getting really expensive, and im only a junior in high school, by the time i get into college the tuition might be double what you guys are paying GAHH im gonna be in major debt
lol i feel the same way, alot of the time i just spend my time in the library and go through the powerpoints myself in like half the time. still manage ok
lol wow u guys are getting HOSED~!!... i'm paying ruffly $8k per year including summer and winter classes... and my professors actually know shit from real world experience... win
We are on the same boat. lolz Welcome to the University. They want your money and want you to be dumber. LOLz Not all Universities proferssors are that bad. There are just very few good ones who know how to teach really good. And I mean, really darn good. Anyway, the powerpoint presentation is totally BS. Like the students can't read at all. So what can you do? Do study/assignment groups. It really helps a lot. Another major point is.. ask classmates or people around about that professor's performance before registering to his/her class. Most Univ have that "teacher evaluation" thingy for the students to see online...although don't believe it on so much before you ask some classmates. Most chinese professors (with an accent) are very nice. Easy as 1-2-3 to pass with a high mark. Good luck. lolz
Yeah, I get that too, I really hate the point of them reading of a whole power point word for word, obviously I could read it, I guess this is easy money for them
my schools tuition is 48,000 (somewhere around that) and my cousin went to a similar school like 10 yrs ago and she's like...WHAT...I paid like 35,000
^lol its not randomness... it's true, if u qualify for FAFSA... ur in for free for 4yrs... including books
urg I wish tuition was free>> this year its running into 10 k for tuition + books . some powerpoint presentations aren't THAT bad, a lot of times, you need them to show pictures and diagrams .
hmm...i dunno...profs at my uni do give us plenty of insights way beyond the textbooks can provide, perhaps it's because i study science? (i.e. heaps and heaps more academic journals in this area compared to arts and social sciences)
if u hafn't figured out by now... uni/college is a place for more self-learning they "guide" u thru the stuff they don't spoon feed u no more if u don't want to turn up, or don't want to learn, they couldn't care less its all about urself and how u want to learn and progress thats what uni is kinda meant to teach u, be independent lectures aren't compulsory, lecture notes are released u can just not turn up, read the notes, and still pass lecturers/professors they help u heaps, if u use them correctly they even hire u as research assistants paying u heaps =)
I hate it when teachers just read the handouts because then I feel like what's the point. Why do I even have to be here. Its like self study and most of the time I don't even head to class if all I have to do is grab a handout.
well supposedly, ur kinda meant to read up on all the lecture notes / info BEFORE the class so u ask questions while in class u don't really "learn" anything in lectures thats for sure its all abt self dedication which isn't the easiest thing lol
I go to a university, but my scholarships and grants completely covers all the tuitions, so I don't have to worry about that.
