Fuji Sankei (Tokyo) Dancing House (Prague) Bank of Asia (Bangkok) Ripley's Building Wilson Hall 135 Degree Angle Hotel Sofitel Triangle Building Astra Haus (Hamburg) Upside Downer(Florida) Crooked House (Sopot)
some pretty interesting buildings!! i wonder how they managed to keep the Astra Haus (Hamburg) up wel.... i wouldn't thought the weight from the top would be way too much over a period of time....
no wonder i find this building familiar.. Dancing House (Prague) is designed by Frank Gehry.. one of his famous architecture is the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao
some actually do look oke, however, there are some buildings that are really ugly such as the wilson hall, the hotel and the one in hamburg this is a bank in amsterdam
=O Giant spider!!! Just wondering if there's a way to escape through the window if you're caught robbing on the top floor-rolleyes
i know ... i thought these are fakes (and it can still be, i don't know) when I first saw the pictures. like the ING Bank in Amsterdam (thanks chi_man); how does it support the weight? we need some engineering people in here to explain
OMG, Habitat 67!!! -inlove That ING building Chi_man posts remind me of... The OCAD in Toronto ^ Second one is the computer draft, not a photo... -sweat
@ Chi man: Hmm, that picture of the Shoe in Amsterdam is way to big, is it possible to resize it? I like this Viñoly building more with it's tears/cracks:
i'm thinking somewhere rural perhaps? in america? haha. when i look at it i think of picnics in meadows.
the front portion is probably cantilevered out. not really an engineering feat, consdering the long span behind it that is supported by columns. btw.. beams/ truss can cantilever about 1/3 their total span. i guess the resemblance comes from the sheer mass supported by slender columns with lots on cantilever.. hiake: how is the building received by the residence of that area? seems rather out of place..
LOL, I loved the colour, never once thought it look like LEGO... Anyways, the building had been around for a while, so I don't know if the residents complained about it when it was first built... -sweat
no wonder.. Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD).. that explains it all.. haha.. bold design there.. read that they are engaging gehry on one their other projects in toronto.. sure to get another icon
