Personal observations about UPS. I don't know if anyone here has ever bought anything by mail or internet and had it delivered by UPS (the private package delivery service in the brown uniforms), but those guys can be really of extremes. Some of them will make you sign for it, some don't care and hand you the package; others may simply leave the item on your door step (where anyone could conceivably come along and take it). I've even had other people's package deliveries left at my door by mistake, and they'll even leave it with a neighbor if you're not home. There doesn't seem to be any sort of real consistent set standard. :( Also, I don't know about anyone else's neighborhood, but it seems that mine is full of UPS delivery guys. I've been getting ready for a trip recently and had bought a few (about 5 or 6) items by mail over the last month or so; I'd noticed that each time an item was delivered, it was by a different UPS guy. There's probably a legion of them just in my neighborhood alone. -roflyawn Also, their website for tracking a package is a mess. It seems that if you need to send them an email, you must have some sort of number from the little piece of paper that they sometimes stick on your door if a delivery attempt was made. If your communications is missing this number, UPS's website will refuse to accept your email. In other words, you cannot sent them an email unless you have this number. Well, sometimes the little piece of paper is missing (for a variety of reasons), so it's impossible for you to even ask about your package. Frankly, I think they did this by design. >.< And who the heck chose the color of their uniforms? Come on, now; brown? handoff1
iunno.... ups workers aren't bad at all.... they have strict rules they have to follow and are only following orders..... newegg shipments love to leave their packages at the door.... even if it's 1200 worth of computer components....
i've had a mobo+cpu left at my door step and stolen but not by ups just regular mail. Fools didn't even knock as i was home waiting for it and the thing was the package was wrapped in bright xmas paper sig required... If the person would of left it on the side i doubt anyone would see it but they left it right on my door step. Luckily it was insured and got reimburse. I buy alot of crap online and yes it depends on the persons, sometimes they knock sometimes they leave it on the side even though i require sig.. Some of the smarter ones open your first door and leave the package so no1 but u could find it.
Well .. I don't have any bad experience with UPS, USPS, or FedEx yet Whenever I ordered stuff online or in the mail, I will put strict reminder on the comment section regardless of first time or multiple ordering. I put something like .. please double check the packaging; making sure the item is not crack or broken and that the package is secured and insured before sending it out. please don't leave package at door if not home. I usually use one credit card for all my purchases online/phone/mail (prevent identity theft) and anything didn't show up by deadline, I call my card to deal with them. I will not call the store/retailers/online site etc. after first trial. Who have the time? I usually order thing to my work or home (when I am home) and open the package right there in front of the delivery guy .. if it's not the item i want or damaged, the I will not sign or take it in. yeah .. i check delivery guy batch number, time of arrival, and delivery vehicles license number so i can complaint. (i haven't thus far since my card deal with anything wrong and nothing yet) for ppl in the US, you can contact the city/county DA consumer office to deal with it too. it's free so why not.
UPS are dumb shits, can't even bring cell phones, I expected a package from UPS and wrote a huge note that says to call my home # so I can come pick it up since I live in an apt. Didn't bother to live a note the first time than the 2nd time, the notice said not home. When I called they said their employees don't carry phones. But FedEx does and they called me to come down and picked it up. I had to chase down an UPS vehicle at the corner to get my packet when I was out buying something.
I've had a set of BBS wheels left at my front door. On the other extreme, they made me sign for a pack of pedobear stickers.
i think where they leave the packages or how it's delivered is determined by their company's policies or whatever the shipper requested (like if they want a signature in order for it to be delivered). takes some time getting used to but after your 10th or so package it won't be a big deal anymore.
