A very disturbing article appeared in the New York Times about how many people, thought to have been at least a 100 years old, have been instead, found to have died many years ago. Their deaths went unreported as family members continued to collect their government pensions. Authorities became suspicious after finding the mummified body of a man, thought to have been still alive at 111 year of age, instead in his bed, where he had laid dead for more than 30 years. They have since discovered that up to 281 persons listed as being over 100 years of age, cannot be found and fear that they have already died but went unreported.

Japanese authorities continue to investigate. :wtf:
