did AVG not remove it for you since it detected it? does the trojan have a proper name or is that the name AVG gave you?
avg asked me to move it to the vault which i did and it detected the name Trojan Horse Generic 5.HYO i only crossed out my name... I have no clue how you use micro trend..... and some people advice me on using mcafee...
anyone gonna give anymore advice?:( i really want to remove the virus without reformating my comp.. stupid vista didnt have system restore on.. wait nvm.. my system do have system restore on.. last updated was 12/1/2007... do i click on that thingy?
Can you please provide more specific information on the virus name and type? Edit: Nevermind I found it. Don't worry about it too much. That's just a very low level Trojan. AVG should be able to take care of it. Just to be on the safe side, don't launch that file. It's the backdoor trojans that you have to worry about. Here's some more information on that virus you have. http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2004-021914-2822-99
no clue on info.. it just says Trojan Horse Generic 5.HYO does system restore take the virus away? i just got the virus now and my system restore point is at 12/1/2007
When did you download that file? If you downloaded it after after 12-1-07, then go ahead and do a system restore. Refer to my other post for more information on the virus.
If you're running Windows XP, you have to boot in safe mode, it'll ask you if you want to run a system restore once it boots under safe mode.
well i just clicked on it and im running vista, it jsut shut down my computer and restoring things right now.. god i so hate viruses... i have 4 computer scanning for viruses mainly..
Oh okay, that's good. You should run a virus scan after you're finished restoring just to make sure it's gone.
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Its free and very easy to use. System restore might be an option but you should run antivirus and remove it first.
finally the system is done restoring.. 1st step.. now rebooting is sure takin a while also.. how long does it take to restore the system... its like half an hour already...
ok my system is finally done with system restore, when i went to avg virus vault.. the virus is still there.. well inside the vault..
