This thread is here for people to discuss about the new OS from Microsoft. Im just telling everyone, even though it says minimun of 512MB of RAM, don't run it on 512, Vista will use 70% of that RAM just on idle
well, i built my new pc yesterday... now i'm using vista, have 2 GB Ram. Vista is good, love that aero glass, but the only thing i dont like is, u cant install old software u used on XP like Nero, Norton .... well vista isnt perfect
its not letting me run Call of Duty 2 on vista!! nooooooooo what edition are you running on man. Ultimate? and how much % of your ram is used on idle (when u first start up). I just wanted to know because im planning to get 2GB too A lot of programs you can use:Nero 7
there are lots of problems with gaming and vista right now apparently. i dont think ATI or Nvidia have fully vista capable drivers out as of yet... kinda a problem, but only if ur a gamer. I dont think il bother with Vista, its too expensive; i like my windows XP and i have it skinned so it looks pretty nice anyway.
support for vista is lacking. results vary. and they really do vary. you take a shot and see what happens when you install it. what can you expect. it was the same thing with windows xp. hell, most of the problems you have wont even have a solution because people really haven't had a chance to play with the os. sometimes it plays well with ur hardware..and sometimes it doesn't..its not a bad os...it just the infrastructure isn't there to support vista...yet that is...after a service pack and more OEM's incorporating vista, then things will get better...
vista can't run alot of mmorpgs that require gameguard :\ , the game companies are working on a patch for it tho.
yeh vista support is too lacking to justify installing it, even though i got a copy... i do like the aero and widgets though! Think Nvidia are planning to do monthly driver updates or something for vista, so maybe it wont be too long before nvidia card holders can enjoy games
Another annoying feature is User account control or UAC. Just about everytime you alter something, screen blinks and window pops out and asks you to confirm. even when you rename a file!!! good thing i turned it off.
yea the interface looks good... even if it does feel like a rip off of mac... still the digital rights management thing and the fact that microsoft can remotely lock you out of your computer if they feel like it worries me... i dont think im ever gonna upgrade to vista.
just used vista on my neighbor's laptop and the thing is really annoying. every time i used a program the thing prompted me to either let it run or stop it. I know they want to make things safer but a prompt every 5 mins is just plain stupid.
you know what? i have an xp laptop with a vista transformation pack. not only that, i liked the mac toolbar, so i got aquadock. so basically you get the best of both worlds. or rather three worlds
