I know a lot of people don't want to upgrade to Vista from XP because they don't want to spend money, dont want to change, like the way XP is working and being used to windows XP (like myself :) ). But i know there are some 'visual' elements of Windows Vista that look cool. ive been googling for transformation packs, skins, and Vista menus, and each websites say they are good on their website but they are not reviewed much.

Does anyone know any good transformation packs (just to change the look of XP) that don't hog up much RAM, wont crash, maintains XP system function, and easy to install & unintall? Anyone using one, heard of one, or read from PC mags about it? Thanks in advance!! ;)

    double post!!!!!!!

and no clue what you want:D i rather just uninstall window vista and reinstall xp if so.. thats how i would do it:D got download a full version of window xp off a torrent or pspiso might have it.. but becareful.. it might have virus.. gosh just uninstall the whole entire computer and reinstall it again.. lol just like getting a virus you would rather reinstall instead of trying to fix if you dont know how to fix a virus:D lol

  3. youre in for a hell of a ride.

    1) you double threaded.
    2) theres no "genuinely good" packs
    3) you mess up install OR uninstall, you will screw up your pc.
    4) just pay for the window skin program.

Im so sorry about the double threading....it must have been a mistake when i clicked "back" on the browser. I might not have explained that well, but what i mean is that i don't have Vista, and i don't want to upgrade to it from XP just yet. but i am looking for free "add-on" tools or programs that emulate the Vista "glass" looks and features on my current XP: ie. having semi transparent window frames, the Vista-style Start Menu with search box and a sidebar with gadgets.

gonna be hard.. go look at pspiso.. and try to download a file.. there might be one.. but you might get a virus... so be sure to check for virus before opening the file...

Thanks, there are quite a few options available on that forum for transforming XP to Vista look. I jus cant choose which one doesnt hog up my RAM and doesnt need the XP CD to uninstall it and go back to XP! :p

  7. lol i understand what you want

i have a vista transformation pack installed.

but it requires messing with some windows file, and could potentially screw up your pc if you install it or uninstallit incorrectly.

I downloaded and installed Vista Inspirat Ultimate 2, with TopDesk (for 3D flip), TruTransparency, Thoosje's sidebar v2.3 from another forum and ive used it for 3 days now. it seems to use up 80-90% of my 512Mb RAM...slows down my comp esp when virus scanning is on. Is this normal for the program combination? Does the Vista Transformation pack 8.1 (which has been said to be risky installing, requiring system restore if it stuffs up) take up less RAM?

the Inspirat program doesnt seem to have perfect alignment of the start menu picture, the top right min, max and close buttons have gaps, doesnt have the start menu search box, and the Vista style menu bar (the back, forward, up buttons etc) of windows.

but the RAM issue is the most problematic. Advice much appreciated! thanks in advance! :)

  15. well when i used it, it was over 50%.. thats why i got rid of it and kept the win98 theme from xp.

Be careful of these packs know.
Do you reading ahead of time and take not of changes in case you need to revers them.
