Wai Yin Ladies Support Classic Film Re-Release

Master director Li Han Hsiang (李翰祥)'s 1958 Shaw Studios Huangmei musical film Diau Chan <貂蟬>, starring silver screen icon Lin Dai (林黛) has been digitally remastered following two year's meticulous work on the old film and was officially re-released yesterday evening at a gala premiere.

As the release coincides with the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Wai Yin Association (慧妍雅集), the charity premiere helped to raise a six-figure sum for the association's charitable causes and current president Anne Heung (向海嵐) attended the event, together with this year's Miss Hong Kong winners Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒), Grace Wong (王君馨) and Lorretta Chow (周美欣) , who appeared dressed as characters of classic Shaw Studios characters played by Lin Dai in the past. Other Wai Yin representatives present included Mandy Cho (曹敏莉), Janet Chow (周家蔚) and Koni Lui (呂慧儀).

A rare appearance was also made by some leading ladies from the Shaw Studios era, including Cheng Pei Pei (鄭佩佩), Tsin Ting (靜婷), Chiao Chiao (焦姣), Yam Yam Siu (邵音音) and Helen Ma (馬海倫). Tsin Ting revealed that she does not usually take part in these events and was only there to show her support for the film, which was the first film that featured her voice in the dubbed singing.

Pei Pei said that she was privileged to have worked with Lin Dai in 1963, when she appeared in the film The Lotus Lamp <寶蓮燈>. This film was not released until a year after the actress's tragic death in 1964 at the age of just 29.
