Hey just wanted to share this with you:

    www.tversity.com

Its a program that lets you stream movies off your laptop/PC onto your TV/HDTV through your Xbox 360 or PS3...

Saves you from burining each movie to disc and converting etc because this transcodes your movies on the fly so you don't have to wait =p Its pretty neat so if you have it, try it =p

Currently watching movies from my laptop on my 42" HDTV =D of course it's not HD quality, but its almost like watching a DVD =p I think that if you download HD files then you can stream it to your HDTV but i haven't tried it yet because i'm not going to download like 13GB for a movie ^^

    Anyway enjoy.

    P.S its freeeeee

just use windows media player and sync with ps3, but you can only stream video that the ps3 recognises :)

wouldnt it be simpler if you just connect ur laptop to ur tv?

might not have the necessary connections to do that, but yes that would be simpler but not as cool as streaming from PC to console to TV -cool (Y)

  5. ^ seriously? if you really want to be lazy about it... im sure most people who have a 360 or a PS3 would have a handy flash drive with them, as i have never owned a 360 i do not know if you can do this but for the PS3 just put the video on the flash drive and plug it in.... and it should be able to play..... at least it worked for me =\

lol i rather just find a flash drive.. put movies on the flash drive and play it on ps3 or just turn on my laptop or desktop and connect it to the TV..

yep flash drives work too, but why bother to transfer onto a flash drive when i can stream from my PC to ps3 wirelessly and I can view my entire video library, no need to keep loading a new movie every time

anyway, is it better to use a Console or a Dvd player to watch movies, if theres not much of a different, then i'll prob use console,

Erm well i connect my PC/laptop to my TV using HDMI cable so i dnt have to convert anything, if not i save onto my flashdrive and connect that to my PS3, jus seems a bit too much effort to connect to PS3 then TV wen i cn avoid an extra step?!

^lol but what happens if you dont have laptop, or one with the correct connectors, etc

however a ps3 / xbox almost always resides by a TV or screen of some sort, so the logical progression is simply to stream from pc to console to tv

so apart from needing a pc to be on, there is no need to unplug or plug things in, or move things about

so really both ideas are about the same hassle as each other ;)

RMVB is not supported directly in PS3, so to watch RMVB format you can use TVersity to stream to your TV from the PC.

Tversity is better though, you can play any file format it supports because TVersity will convert for example RMVB to mpeg for u and stream to PS3 with no lag ( its what i do ^^) but of course you need a pretty decent computer. im running a p4 2.4ghz and it converts and streams very well. recommend Tversity ^^
