Thinks Highly of Ron Ng Mak Ling Ling: Out of the new generation of fa dan and siu sang, who do you 睇好? Wayne: (seriously thinking for a long time) I think the newbies now are pitiful because they don't have directors helping them. Back then, when we first entered the business, there were a lot of directors willing to teach you. Now, the directors main purpose is to focus on filming. It is already good enough that the directors can handle the shots, let alone teach you. Mak Ling Ling: How about Raymond Lam? Wayne: Raymond is one of them. His natural born characteristics is not bad (I think he is referring to his looks) and he has 觀眾緣. (How about his acting?) Honestly speaking, his acting stills needs more training. Mak Ling Ling: How about Tavia Yeung? Wayne: Tavia is quite good. She is the most outstanding of all of them. I actually quite think highly of Kate Tsui. Kate has her own uniqueness and her individual personality is quite strong. An actor really needs a strong character. Mak Ling Ling: How about Fala Chen? Wayne: Fala is... We will have to see what road she takes because Fala's Chinese is not that good, just like Linda (Chung), too. In Chinese television, the understanding of the language and the culture really decides on how you will take on the role. This is a big matter. For example, Cantonese comedy and English comedy are really different. Cantonese has its own idiosyncrasies. If you don't understand it, you will never be able to grasp it. You have to first understand the language in order to understand the rhythm. This is very important in acting. It seems as though TVB is now very multi-national. Some are even from France, such as those like Stephen (Huyhn). Bernice (Liu) also does not know Chinese. For them, to use Chinese to act is more difficult and limits them. Mak Ling Ling: What about guys? Whose acting ability is better? Wayne: Actually I recently filmed with Ron (Ng) and I quite like him. I think the feeling he gives off when he is acting is quite good. Remove all of his bad press/news; don't talk about it. Well obviously he has to be more careful about this stuff because this industry does not just focus on acting itself. Things such as mannerisms and bad rumours can have a big influence. But, I feel he has acting potential. He has some particular characteristics; however, he has not learned how to articulate them yet. He gives the feeling that he is not serious, but it is not true. Sometimes acting requires experience--太乖乖仔 may not be able to act out certain roles. Mak Ling Ling: You also take part in "Off Pedder," what do you think about Joyce's (Cheng) performance? Wayne: She's too new. Give her time. Source: Rononline and Orientaldaily Credits: Hyn5's Blog
