Hi guys. planning to get some new hardware. just mb and graphic card.

what you guys think of these parts?

    Asus P5N-D
    2 x 512M 8800GT
or the 8800GTS but $100 more for each card.

total around $600 to $700 for 8800GT (thats alot of money for just 2 cards + mb)

planning make a sli mode so i can watch movie or whatever n play games at the same time.

Do you have a Powerful CPU to run all the programs ? I suggest to get the 8800GT because the value is better than buyin the GTS. Dunno about the Mainboard.

i suggest 2 HD4850 ($150-$200 each) which will beat most cards now..

I dont suggest SLI or X-fire tbh cause unless ur running games at crazy resolutions or want to play crysis theres no point in spending so much money on 2 cards, plus mutli-gpu set ups often have in game problems because they lack the profile supports in some games

1x HD4850 will do the job nicely

hmmz... the reason i want a SLI setup is because a while back i was told for me to play games and watch movies off my computer at the same time i need a SLI setup. eg. play games on the monitor and watch movie on the LCD TV.

not really.. really depends on the cards cooling.. like you can put heatsink on card to make temperature lower.. or change the fans and stuff..

no u don't.... u can run dual monitors on a single 8800gt... the only consequence is if u wanna run a high resource game like crysis, then u'd feel slowdown... just get one 8800gt first and try it out... then get another if u feel it's insufficient... ur probably however better off running an 8800gt w/ tv tuner card that has HDMI output...

and does neone else besides me find it kinda... well pathetic to be blunt... that people are starting to use dual monitors for the purpose of playing games and watching movies at the same time? it's like gl:ugh2:

wow...somebody lied to you hehehe...with one 8800gt youc an do both without a problem. I've been using one and watching movies while i play wow and other games. The one thing you will notice though is if you start playing games like crysis and stuff you will notice a lag when trying to do both.

i cant remember where i read it, but X-fire does dual monitors fine, but theres a problem with SLI doing dual monitors

but maybe they fixed it, im not totally sure, but something the OP should check out

2 graphic cards are good for the extra processing power provided by the extra video card but for dual mon any video card can handle it. Its kinda like having an extra core to do the extra processin gon desktop processors now.
