what kind of player would i need if i were to rip sometime on tv onto a hard disk?

    what kind of player would i need if i were to rip sometime on tv onto a hard disk?

    is this possible?

    if you have an video output like connecting cable to your pc and the most trustful program is Nero i think its Nero 8 know

    so basically i hook my laptop to the tv?
    then use a program such as nero to record it? does it also burn it straight onto dvd? or can i choose it to record it onto my computer?

    yes, there is also a second way to do it, which is a HARDWARE device which has a mpeg decoder/encoder inside to do the processing, in this case, you only need a only pentium-2 computer.
    it sits between the computer and the source.( TV, vcr,....)
    products like pinnacle video capture,
    ADS DVDXpress DX2.
