Why is everything in rmvb format? regarding TVB shows. What's the deal with that? Why not avi?
What does dvd-rmvb mean? Why would dvd still be in rmvb? why not just rip the dvd?

    Just my rant.

    Go Olympics!

Because RMVB is a small file type, which makes it faster to upload and download. This minimizes bandwidth usage as well.

and if you really want a dvd quality file go buy the damn dvd

I agree! If you want quality download buy the dvd. The uploaders work hard enough to provide this to you for free. You shouldn't expect too much.

And shouldn't this thread belong in the Rant section?

Khoatic sumed it all up :)

  7. You obviously never tried to share something...... ripping these videos and uploading them takes a lot of time especially with so many of them, its just a lot easier for both end on bandwidth to download a smaller file but still viewable, the RMVB files i have are perfectly fine.

^ well i guess new ppl need to learn how to share then xD
PA should make it that all new members upload at least upload 200 mb of something to qualify to be a member xD

khaotic pretty much summed it up for all of us. You want to get rmvb because they are smaller in size but have the quality of an AVI file. besides would you rather wait 10-15 minutes for it to finish downloading or 30-40 minutes?

    *sigh another troll*

Well if you really want AVI or some other format there are 2 options.
1.) Go torrent! There are many copies of AVI. though the quality is shi* and it takes forever to download cuz the stupid china seeders are stingy.
    2.) Get the MKV-HDTV version.

    Done. Problem solved, no?

    .mkv takes alot of space
i think most ppl delete the files/series after watching it
unless your one of those chinese guys i see in london carrying dvds to sell
rmvb its watchable, its ok then

  13. LOL if that really happened PA would be empty-rolleyes

yep, smaller file but quality is quite good considering the size of the file, I watch my rmvb on a 50" TV and its actually quite good, so on a smaller TV quality must be excellent. AVI etc esp. dvdrips takes longer for pple to upload and share with us very grateful people, so if people (thats u Frosh) want to rant about it, leave this site cos im sure the uploaders and all downloaders dnt wana hear u rant about it.

I really hate the rmvb files too!!!
They're so bad quality for most thats out there!!
But the file sizes are a lot smaller thats for sure!

  16. rmvb files usually arent that good quality. for the old series, the quality is very bad, unlike those hdtv 720p.

DVD-RMVB means that its taken from the DVD.
You can also get TV-RMVB which means its recorded from the tv

Real Video 10 might have been a nice choice in 2004 when it's competitors were Mpeg-4 ASP(xVid and Divx) and WMV 8 at least for low bitrate situations, but today the x264 implementation of h.264/AVC is superior at every bandwidth compared to Real Video 10 even the low bitrate 500 Kbps that some encoders use. Frankly why they still use real video 10 even though there are high quality freeware encoding tools like automkv available for use x264.
