The husband of a dead woman found dumped in a wheelie bin has been remanded in custody charged with her murder - but mystery now surrounds when she died. Peter Wallner was charged with the murder of wife Melanie Wallner, whose decomposed body was discovered a week ago. But in a curious twist the circumstances of Mrs Wallner's death have turned to intrigue after her family released a statement - in Britain and South Africa - indicating she died naturally three years ago. Her family said: "We were informed that Melanie had passed away from natural causes in September 2006. "Since then we have tried to come to terms with our loss. These new developments came as a big shock to us as a family." Her unemployed chef husband, who is a German national, was charged with her murder between August 1 2006 and June 6 2009, and with preventing the lawful and decent burial of her body between the same dates. During the 10-minute hearing at Woking Magistrates' Court today, 33-year-old Wallner spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. Mrs Wallner, who would have turned 32 last November, was discovered after a human foot was seen protruding from rubbish outside a three-bedroom, rented semi-detached terrace in Hamilton Avenue, Cobham, Surrey. Surrey Police confirm there is confusion over the time of death and are still searching for people who knew the woman. Detective Chief Inspector Maria Woodall said: "Although someone has been charged with Melanie Wallner's murder, the exact time of her death is still unclear. "Therefore, I remain keen to hear from anyone we haven't spoken to who has seen her since August 2006 or who knew her well around that time." Wallner had been wanted for questioning after he left the country in a hire van - he was spotted by surveillance cameras on the M25 heading towards the Dover ferry port. Heavily-built Wallner later called police from Malta before flying back to Britain on Wednesday, where he was arrested by officers at Gatwick Airport. In court, chairman of the bench Robin Spray, remanded Wallner - dressed in a blue sweatshirt and jeans - in custody until June 30 when he will appear at the Old Bailey. No pleas were entered and there was no application for bail, and Mrs Wallner's family believe a trial will uncover the full details surrounding her death. "We would like the case to be concluded and have full confidence in the British legal system and trust that justice will prevail," her family said. "Melanie was a much loved daughter and sister and her loss has left a big hole in our lives."
Maybe the husband lied to the wife's family i guess but if the foot was found and the fact it was 3 years ago wouldn't it be rotten and stinky?? EWWWW
