i think its around march 2011.. and well if u gonna use the store for ds then it might matter ( like the dsi-ware and stuff), ive got the jap version dsi and i can only get dsiware from jap store and not anywhere else, also the jap version doesnt let u change language to english or any other language, so all the menu and stuff are in jap. but other than that, you can play any games in any language just fine, so it depends if u mind not having access to the shop from your country and can only access the jap store and wont mind reading jap for any other application on the 3ds these might be different for the 3ds, but im just point out the problems i encountered from buying the jap version of dsi
