speak Cantonese correctly? Do you get annoyed when others don't use their tongues to pronounce Cantonese crisply and clearly? Here are 4 videos on popular words/phrases which many mispronounce. OMG, where did you find this?!?!? This is a brilliant program!!! I got peeved when people cannot pronounce things properly too (and Twins is totally not helping...)
Most people just don't recognize that they don't speak properly, which is totally sad :( Hey RIBS, where did you find these clips??? Any idea if I can find that old school "Listen to songs and learn English" Program by that nice lady??? I don't know its official English name but hope you know which one I am talking about >.<

This was broadcasted in HK a while back. My cousins forwarded the vids to me. Exactly. I am so annoyed with Hong Kong music, movies, and dramas that I have pretty much stopped watching it. I'm waiting for the actors, actresses, and singers to learn better Cantonese before I'll support them again. *sigh* Sad thing is one of my best friends from Hong Kong was trying to correct me because he was adament that his "lazy sound" pronunciation is the correct way -shoot I thought my pronunciation was perfect too until I watched these videos and realized I have been mispronuncing a few words as well. Gonna work really hard at kicking those habits.
Sorry Hiake, I'm not familiar with that program. If you find the english name or have a clip of it, send it to me and I can try to track it down -^_^
I don't realize I pronounce sum words wrong until i made a recording n listened to it again and hey to my boy boy
Hey baby *wink* Yeah, it's actually really helpful to record ourselves and listen back. Off topic, but I used to think I sang on key with the correct pitch until I recorded myself and played it back...boy was I wrong lol -tongue2 But it helped me improve on my karaoke !-^_^
I think sometimes we want to match the tone of the word (with the lazy sound) with other words so it will sound smoother. Like for "友誼永固," I always pronounce 誼 as 兒.
Cute how the girl was trying to say "I love you" Hence the term "lazy sound." Some words were meant to sound a little rougher or distinct to give it its flava...
Maybe I will lol =) I'm still working on my pitch a little bit. You have a recording on the thread already baby?
ic *grins* I don't watch too many mandarin shows/movies. But I'll see if my wife can dig me up some episodes. She's addicted to Taiwanese talk shows...
How about this, if I upload one up sometime in the next couple months, you upload one too.....or you can pm me *smile*
