Is it really useful or just a excuse for a higher price tag or marketing scheme, lol i think only subscription users are gonna find it beneficial though because theres going to be so many restrictions on the transfers.

It depends on how it utilizes the wifi. Does it allow transfering through computers? Some lesser known players might, though not many have wi-fi to begin with. Stuff like Zune dont allow it, so useless. They only have wireless assuming u'd use it within the limits of R1A-A bounds. so yes at this point it is some marketing scheme.
