Hi, I have a Windows Vista and I use windows media player version 11.0.6001.7004 and I can't play files whos audio is AC3. The video plays fine but the audio doesnt work. I just hear white noise. I downloaded AC3 Filter codec but that didnt work. Then I searched around the net and I think I learned that Windows Media Player 11 should already support AC3 audio, and yet I have this problem. I already have Vista Codec Package. Can someone please help me. Like tell me what audio codec can fix this or tell me how to get my windows media player to play it. Please I need help. Thanks

Also, I'm aware media player classic works for AC3 and a lot of things but I really prefer using windows media player

To be honest, Windows media player sucks!! I can't even play an avi file correctly with all those blocks and dots. Four words, forget about the program.

but sometimes u still need it.
    just use alternatives like:

    mpcstar
    k-lite codec pack full

  4. u should probably uninstall all codec packages and codecs that you have.. ie. Vista Codec Package and AC3 Filter..

try downloading k-lite codec package.. works pretty well and should be the only thing you need..
