Wong Kar Wai signs on with Hollywood Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai signed on Creative Artists Agency and officially joins the reign of Hollywood on Sunday. He will be making foreign language films starting with three action films of Fox Searchinglight in the English language. Wong has been one of the Chinese directors most looked up to by the West. He was recently named one of the "50 Greatest Active Film Directors" by Entertainment Weekly, a United States magazine. CAA is one of Hollywood's top talent agencies with superstars such as Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman under its flag. Wong said he choose CAA for its eminent credentials and will be working with several Hollywood production houses to bring the vibrant creative juices of the Chinese into Hollywood. Many Hollywood companies have previously invited Wong to be part of their movies but he said, "The time was not ripe then. Now that I have directed commercials for famous international brands and also the movie 'Blueberry Nights', I have accumulated sufficient experiences and now is the right time to explore new arenas." However, Wong will be started his new Chinese movie "The Grand Master" in June; official engagement in Hollywood films will only begin after he is done with the former. Wong also assured the public that he will not retreat from Hong Kong or give up the Chinese movie industry.
