This post is for the discussion of people who have jobs; be it full-time or part-time.

Doesn't work suck? I dunno... I had a lot of dreams and goals when I was at school. It took me like 16+ years to finish school, just to find out that what we do at work is totally meaningless. No one cares about what you do, and waking up every morning is a pain. And with the job market being as bad it is rite now, its lucky that we have a job so we can actually pay for things...

So please share some of your experiences, and tell me how you get by while having 8 hours of the day wasted (not to mention need to sleep early or else will fall asleep at work! and god... don't get me started on stupid traffic jams!!)

Hahah yeah, like the saying goes: "no pain, no gain".

But still, wouldn't life be so much easier if you could earn a living by being a net junkie? -noclue

Maybe you have the wrong job or the wrong attitude.

I felt that with every job that I've held, I learned something, and that's what makes the job interesting. I've also had the luck of having great bosses (aside from the one I have now) who are very smart & have acted as a mentor to me. So it was great working for them... because I learned a lot, and that's what you want to do when you're @ work... learn as much as possible & get out & find another job.

I hate my current job right now not because I hate the work, but because I hate my boss, but hopefully that'll soon change.

The job itself is not a pain, but my boss definitely is. He does a horrible job at conveying what his expectations are of me as well as what his manager's expectations are of me. Whenever he tells me to do something, I do it to his liking. But when we show it to his manager, his manager disapproves and asks why we did a certain thing a certain way... and my manager will just blame me.

Anyway, because of that, I'm thinking about finding another job. I guess being unhappy at the job is the main reason, but another reason is that I don't see myself learning much. I feel that I've wasted my time here, and as a result, have decreased my market value. There's no point to be unhappy at a place where you are for the majority of the day.

I've had horrible bosses before, but as long as I did my work to the best of my abilities, they'd appreciate me. But this time, there's no way I can break through that impression that I'm a dumbass.

You need a job that would allow you to
    1. Work at home (Varies)
    2. Choose your own hours
    3. Travel often
    4. Pay you fairly
    5. Interact with lots of people

I've been hearing about the job market being bad since 1996. I think the job market is fine....

  13. Well that's why you needed higher education to be successful... congratulations! you've succeed!

yeah, these days it is hard to get a decent paying job without post secondary degree... it is fine in high school when u get those jobs that pay like 10 to 15 bux an hour...and back then it seemed like a lot, but to live off of that, would be totally insane. you are lucky you only work 8 hours. i work 10, plus it takes me 40 mins each way to get to work, and that is on a freakin highway.....i have to say though, that because of my degree, i am getting a pretty decent wage and lots of hrs, meaning more pay! but that leaves time to do virtually nothing when i get home. i still have to cook for myself... and every so often, i have to clean.... but no worries, no matter what you do, and where you work, something at work will always bother you... mine is coworkers... sometimes they drive me so insane. plus we all spend way too much time together.

We all know work really sucks, but no work means no income. I don't like to deal with all the stress too but what can i say. I don't wanna ask my parents for money at my day and age.

heh. work = pain huh? i don't know how it feels since i just recently graduated from high school and now on to college. but work doesnt have to be a pain. ive been taught that i should find a job that i like. if you find a job that you hate, it's better off finding another job. also, my economics teacher would tell the class, a way to promote yourself is to quit your current job and move onto a higher paying job. but of course, higher education is always needed first.
basically, find a job to your liking, if you hate your job, quit, find another.
