Have any of you ever felt like you've just worried too much about things that don't really concern you?

Earlier today, my friend who is 16 years old got a stroke. He is a drug user and he has been drinking since the age of 12. So I tell him that he should stop drinking so much and using drugs, but he won't listen and gets mad at me instead.

I know it really doesn't involve me, but I'm just really worried about him. Unless, I'm mistakened...getting a stroke at age 16 is not normal at all. And since his other friends don't really care (they drink with him all the time, etc.)...I feel like I'm completely alone here. So, am I just simply worrying too much?

what kind of drugs was he using?

having a stroke isnt usually associated with drinking or drug use... unless he is doing cocaine.

if all he is doing is smoking weed then i doubt the problems were due solely to his habits... he might have a pre-existing medical condition. No doubt the drugs and alcohol would have exacerbated the situation though.

i dont worry about shit i cant control though. if you've already talked to him about his habits and he hasn't stopped then there isnt much else you can do. maybe this event will teach him that life is precious and he shouldn't fuck it up.

heck no that's not worrying too much ...
if that happened to one of my friends, i'd freaking slap him because he's hurting himself like that
you're just worrying because you're a good friend, even though you can't really do anything about it since it's his decision in the end
but he's addicted, so anything anyone says to him won't get through to him
just hope he realizes soon =\

put him through an intervention if you are that concerned. if the drugs and alcohol are consuming his life then you might have to be the rat and tell his family what is going on if they dont already know.

but i do agree with fearless as well. there comes to be a point when you say, i've done all that i can and if you wont help yourself then see ya! cut him out of your life. it's not easy, but do everything you can and then leave it otherwise it'll start to take over your life as well.

At 16 getting a stroke definitely is not normal. Have a talk with his parents and see if that can help him or not.

if he had stroke at 16 and still dont care about it then what is the chance that you can change him? very unlikely. porbably take him to a doctor...........................................
