Golden gals strip down for charity

Pearls, gloves, a hat and a 1930 Model A car.

Those were the only props for Dorothy Young's barely-there photo shoot and even though she's 83 years old, she didn't hesitate for a second to strip down for a good cause.

"What a way to start off the year," said Miss January 2008, one of 20 elderly ladies posing for a fundraising calendar produced by the Fountains of Mission Retirement Residence.

The calendar, called The Classics, has 12 months of residents posing in their skivvies with classic cars to raise money for the Rainbow Society of Alberta and the Inn from the Cold Society.

This is the third time the ladies have doffed their clothes for charity and they will sell the calendars until they're gone, said Kathleen O'Halloran, Fountains of Mission general manager.

Because this is the first year the fundraiser is targeting more than one charity, they have upped the stock from the usual 1,500 copies to 2,000 calendars.

"It's a wonderful way to raise money for charities and we're good at that," said Miss July, 92-year-old Canadian-flag-clad Margie Mitcheltree.

"It looked like fun and I'm a fun person," she said of the experience.

The calendars will be put on sale at Fountains of Mission, 222 25 Ave. S.W., for $10 each.

Its a good cause for charity but dont they have other means? -shock

I havent seen it...and im not planning on watching either

hmm.. its really a weird method of charity.. i rather they jus took photos of cute puppies and kittens.. or jus sunsets and sunrises.. at least i might consider buying
