Okay, I'm not sure whether this should go here or the rant forum.. >< BUT I was disappointed, mainly since it didn't follow the comic, but well we can't have every thing. Note - I have never actually read the comic, but I have knowledge of what is supposed to happen. (I may be wrong though, feel free to correct me) 1. Professor X, Cyclops, and Jean Grey -- The Deaths - I'm unhappy that they die. I can understand how Professor X dies, but the fact that he does makes me unhappy. Now, Scott dying, weird.. isn't Jean supposed to kill the Pheonix to save him or something? I was unhappy with what little role that he had in this movie. The Pheonix, How does she die so easily? All Wolverine does is go up to her and kill her.. Of course, Jean could have had control, but I found that it was just too easy. 2. Rogue, Iceman, and Shadowcat - Dude what was up with that.. What do you gain from Rogue permanently giving away her powers? The whole Iceman--Shadowcat thing bugs me, I like Rogue, but she doesn't seem to be the type to get jealous, course Rogue and Iceman isn't supposed to go together anyway.. I don't think. 3. Angel -- His brief part. - He was brought into the movie, and I thought he would have more of a role. He was put in a way that it seemed he would do more than save his father (I think) 4. The Cure - .. Magneto became human.. that's just weird. And Mystique as well, I would never have thought that. 5. The War - What exactly was the X-men's side? They weren't for the cure, but they were exactly on Magneto's side either. However, I did like the Iceman---Pyro brawl, it was cool. He owned Pyro. *I'm sorry if I'm not allowed to post a topic like this, I have not yet seen one.
Well...for Q5...the X-Men were to protect the humans while Magneto couldn't care less about them. I found Rogue's role pretty gay. I thought she would fight in at least 1 battle at least....uhhh.. I don't really care who died....the more who died the better I reckon...whats good a movie where all the good guys are alive. =.=" Must have some negative thing happen. Though I think Cyclops died too early lol... Movies don't really have to follow the comic. (I haven't read it myself) But I guess the director wanted to create a movie with a proper end. (Which was that there is a cure for mutants who don't wanna be what they are) Look at Spiderman movies, I don't think they follow the comics. Overall I liked the movie anyway.
The movies don't have to follow the comic, but sometimes If you know whats gonna happen, its not as great of an experience for you. Its not the fact that the good guys died that bugs me, but how they died. I wish they could have died more gallantly.
I had the same complaint about the movie. Cyclops died way too early in the movie and Cyclops never died in the comic book. I heard that the reason Cyclops had such a small role is because James Marsden the actor was also shooting Superman Returns. I guess they had to cut his part due to sheduling conflicts. Plus we are still not certain that Cyclops is actually dead. Theres no body and we never actually see him die. This movie was decent and we cant always expect it to follow the comic. I think Spiderman the movie stayed very true to the comic besides not mentioning Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's first girl friend and the fact that he is able to shoot out webs without a web producing device. It alright with me because Im assuming most people dont even know who Gwen Stacy is because she died along time ago. All people recognize is Mary Jane. And by having spiderman have the ability to shoot webs instead of relying on a device makes it easier to tell the story. As for Professor X, its possible to bring him back in the next one due to the little twist in the ending. As for Jean Grey well she had to die. She died several times in the comic book and resurrected. In fact she is currently dead right now after killing off Magneto in the Planet X series. But she will be back and it is also possible to bring her back in the next one. The thought that the love triangle between Rogue, Ice man and shadow cat was pointless. It didnt go any where. I was disappointed to see that Rogues character had a lack of screen time along with cyclops. I wanted to see her mature from the last two films and use her powers in a productive way. In the last two films they portray Rogue as this scared little girl who's afraid of her powers. But in the comics she grew out of that and now is a tough talking bad ass who has good control of her powers. I mean Ice man's powers evolved in the movie during his fight with Pyro and Shadow Cat put her powers to good use while going up against Juggernaut. I also wanted Collossus to have a bigger role. I wanted to see him go up against the Juggernaut. All he did was throw Logan around. You can never follow the comic book exactly cuz if they did the storyline would have been the Phoenix saga in outerspace where the X-Men goes up against the Imperial guards and Star Jammers. That movie would take more than an hour and a half and a cost far exceeding its budget. I heard that the actors are willing to do another X-Men if it does well in the box office. The money it took in last weeked is a encouraging sign. This is the last movie of this trilogy meaning they are probably done with talking about Magneto or at least having him as the main Villain. It is possible that Apocalypse will appear in the next one since Angel is already in the cast of characters. Overall I thought that X-men united was better than this one.
I like x-men united (2nd movie) more than this one. The story of this movie is a bit weird. They squeezed everything into one movie.
Good point. But it'd have been nice for him to have been there longer. wait, Jean's not dead though right? Isn't she lying dormant in the cocoon of her telepathic powers or something? The pheonix only cloned her, and inhabited the clone's body? Okay, well I've always liked Rogue since she was well, she's cool. And the previous movies, right she was getting used to her powers, but she should have learned to use them by the third movie. Rogue's got such an awesome power, so it would have been nice to able to see her using it. Now that I think of it, she didn't use them at all. . Same here, Collossus didn't really have mush of a part and well it would have been better if he did, since he is part of the team. Right, you gotta make with what you have. I'm not that unhappy that it doesn't follow the books, since many movies don't, but that it could have been a bit more similar. I'm happy about that.
To me... the moral of the story were: - Sometimes, you need to kill the people that you love. Scott (since he was never really cyclops with those glasses). Professor X Phoenix - We have to make unethical choices sometime in our lives. Using the Cure to bring down magneto (even though they sounded like they did not support the idea at all) Transfering your mental state into another body. ----------------------------------- And what's with wolverine taking only nano seconds to heal? So many pointless scenes... like the family in the car in the bridge. What the hell was that suppose to mean? Locking the doors, ha ha and that's it? This is more like a rant ;p
haha no prob, that's what this is for.. yes, what was with the family? it had no point except to try and bring some humor into the movie .. at least, I didn't get the point of it. about Wolverine, I didn't think about that, he's supposed to take longer to heal huh?
So what if Wolverine is suppose to take longer to heal. that would just take up more screen time. I mean they mentioned Juggernaut as a Mutant and he is not. Plus he is also Xavier's half brother. Certain details from the comic had to be take out in order for the movie to flow. the part on the family was just a way to add humor to the movie. Its just like when they add Stan Lee in the movie. Its pointless but we find it amusing.
With the number of new characters they introduced (most of who were pretty much meaningless to the story), they had to kill off a bunch. While the special effects and action was pretty watchable, I was still disappointed at the end.
I walked out of the movie thinking, did that just happen? I was pretty pissed. Why would they kill off so many people like that? It is such a great series to work with, I can't believe that they are stopping it with the third movie, or at least they said they were. Grrr....
me and friend think that the cure thing was tempary because at the end of the flim u see that guy Magneto i think his name is about to move the chest pice i think then it ended. i also think the cure tempary cos i remember that the girl Rogue would have other super powders like some flying powers and super streight power i think ;( THEY SHOULD OFF NOT KILLED OF SCOTT
if they dont want to follow the comic why not just change the whole story why bother say based on comic x men. It will make more sense if they just call them y men. I never watch any of this movie as i thnik is a waste of time.
Rogue got her flying and super strength powers from Ms. Marvel. She takes her power and put her into a coma. Ms. Marvel is not a X-men character but part of Marvel universe and there is no way they are going to put her in the movie just so Rogue could fly. For years Ms. Marvel was without her powers and resented Rogue for what she did to her. Not until recently did Ms. Marvel get her powers back. The reason why they dont follow the comic is because there is just too many details to put into one movie. For example Mystique is actually Rogue and NIght Crawler's foster mother. Now if they put that into the movie wouldnt it change the direction of the film. Plus Juggernaut is Professor X's step brother who by the way is not a mutant. He resented his brother for having powers of telepathy and excelled in everything he did while Juggernaut was always in his shadows. An ancient gem actually gave Juggernaut his powers. We all want to see more characters put into the movie but there is no way they can tell each and every detail of the character according to the comic. For that you will need a TV show, not a 2 hour movie. So quit complaining that it didnt follow the comic. Oh yeah Jean is actually dead after her fight with Xorn who impersonated himself as Magneto. Jean is the Phoenix and currently she resides in the white hot room which is another dimension that consists of other beings with the phoenix power. Jean is the most powerful out of all the Phoenix's. Jean actually came back briefly in the End song series to fight off the Phoenix and also was resurrected 150 years into the future during the Here comes tomorrow series. Currently she is dead in this world or you can say that her energy is living in another dimension. Oh and Scott cheated on her and ran off with the White Queen. That Bastard!!!
wow .. a niiice thread >> good for complaining about the stupidity of this movie >.< don't get me wrong .. i love the X-men series, and the trilogy isn't that bad overall, but the script and the plot that was pick by director Brett Ratner was really cheesy and simple. it was a childish special effect traumatic fighting between 'cool' looking mutants and the military forces. i know there is alot of 'underlining' evidence of social, political, and cultural influence in the movie. however, to most fans of the x-men series, i assume it was let down. i agreed with many of the other post'ers, Cyclop was killed WAY too easily ... and the death of Jean and Pheonix is interestly protrayed. And why was Professor was killed so soon. one of the best and most demanding character in the X-men series is Professor X >> and BAM he was killed off, like 30 minutes into the movie. but, with all the characters that were involved and picked for the movie .. why not Gambit?? GAMBIT .. would had been freakin' crazy in the movie. and plus he had the relationship with Rogue. instead of this childish, moranic, and wierd relationship and struggle between Rogue, Iceman, and Shadowcat. anyways .. it was ok movie. good if you don't want to much to think about when watching it .. a typically well-packed action flick. -.^ oooh.. can someone explain the part where Rogue was running away to get the cure, Logan stops her .. and they end their greeting with 'Marie'?? wtf .. who is 'Marie'?? or did i hear it wrong?? Ps. i think there is more ... maybe a X-4: "the Onslaught", but, they killed that idea with the death of Prof. X. -sheeesh .. but, it is probably going to another movie for X-men .. that pawn did move. didn't it?? ()
lol Marie is Rogue's real name. She's going off to get the cure, so she'll no longer be Rogue, but Marie.
Rogue's name is actually Anna Marie. Yeah Gambit would have been a cool character, but why would you put Gambit in the movie before Angel and Beast. Angel and Beast were the first few members of the X-Men. Gambit didnt come in until the early 90's. If Gambit was in the movie he would have gotten a very limited role, a role that was similar to that of Psylocke's role in the movie. Yeah Psylocke was in the movie, but she was one of the bad guys that didnt do much. Lets hope they will put Gambit in the next one so he could get a bigger role. Plus why would you go into the Onslaught story when the Apocalypse story hasnt even been told yet.The Onslaught series was also a Marvel Universe cross over centered around the X-men. In order to tell the story you are going to have to include other Marvel characters. Just stick with the X-Men storyline. I know everyone wants a kickass storyline. If thats the case then the best storyline to do is the Age of Apocalypse where Legion (Xavier's son) goes back in time and accidentally kills his own father in an attempt to kill Magneto. That changes the future of the X-Men. Magneto then becomes the leader of the X-Men in order to continue Xavier's legacy. That would be tight, but then again why would you go into that direction when so much hasnt been told yet. the X-tinction agenda storyline where most of the X-Men are captured and put in trial for crimes would have been a good storyline for a movie. But its very similar to the storyline of the second X-men movie which was based on the "God loves, Man kills" storyline. One last thing, they better bring Rogue back for the next one and allow her to regain her powers. Trust me they will find a way to bring everyone back. Its been done in the comics so it is possible to do it in the movie.
I believe you when they say they'll find a way to bring everyone back. All you gotta do is come up with some bizzare reason and no one can question it. ><
