I don't plan to play the "blame the victim" game, but why would anyone NOT lock their dorm room? They ALWAYS drill the whole "lock your door" thing in the Rez during Frosh/Orientation. And also? I am not personally familiar with Vanier Hall, but most residence's front door pose ZERO security measures as they are often KEPT open (at least during day time, not sure about night time). Really can't say the two victims didn't do their part in letting the crime to happen. <_<
im in schulich @ york and i think the campus is pretty safe..but then agian i dont hang around the campus much...just making my way from point A to B for classes...but i have noticed a bunch of warning posters everywhere now...on the ground, walls, washrooms, poles benches... everywhere... the guy obviously knew the residence area pretty well to be able to sneak around like that...so chances are if he didnt attack that group of girls who had their dorm doors unlocked he woulda went for another victim..but yea i believe a majority of york students are decent people... and im sure a huge reason of why all this happens is cuz york isnt exactly located in the friendliest neighborhoods...but im not saying all people who live around the area are bad... just that the area has a bad rep.
oh yea! i heard that on the news today... serves them all right. rapers for raping, and victims for unlocking door
most first year students are not aware and probably first time out of their homes...so might be innocent...I feel for them,,,
Shall we start a poll on who NEVER lock their doors here on PA? It's common sense, not a matter of security. It's kind of like how people telling me how unsafe certain cities can be, but when I visit those cities in question, I didn't notice anything. When I ask them further, they told me they can't count their wade of bills in public (or something like that), I mean, WHO in their right mind count money in public? Just asking for trouble. <_<
