went to see an exebition of some of his work today, in theHague, itw as really cool. he build little houses, kids size doors, and inside there were paintings and installations, a room covered with furry stuffed animals, and between the houses were walkways, and then more rooms and small doors... ah I found a video of teh expo, check it out. I saw a mini-exhibition of contemporary Japanese graphic artists and Nara was one of the featured artists (others include Murakami and Echizenya) Nara's work is surreal both in his style and his subject. I remember reading a review of his work, describing his paintings as "demonic little girls". I found it (the expression, not the paintings) extremely adorable -^_^
yea, the pics I posted are rather demonic I guess but there were allso a lot that were ever so cute and sweet. and theres some comments on the paintings like no nukes and peace and stop war. I like him a lot.
