The tournament is over and Zizou has won the Adidas Golden Ball award, an award given to the Most Oustanding Player. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/060710/1/8rik.html Now there's so many things to consider about Zidane about this 2006 World Cup....: -He's retiring, this World Cup final was his last game ever. -3 goals in the tourney -He pretty much lead his team throughout this entire tournament, especially during some tough games, including the game against Brazil, his penalty goal against Portugal, and another penalty goal early against Italy. -Him headbutting Materazzi and then getting a red card and expulsion from the game! Here's the link for all those that missed it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6o2UDltZ4vk&search=Zidane headbutt -sick2 -doh Now he did so much for his team this World Cup, basically pumping his tired-old body at the pleas of his nation, and almost reaching that glorious moment they attained back in '98. He could have ended it on a high-note, going down as one of the most prolific players ever. But then that headbutt! -ohmy -ohmy I changed my mind haha. I do THINK he should deserve the Golden Ball Award after all he did for his country... regardless of that headbutt, after reading more articles and rewatching the play.... That headbutt was definitely the Italian's fault, wanted to provoke/start something.... So what are your opinions on Zidane, his retirement, the HEADBUTT and the Golden Ball Award??? -huh?
the guy deserved the headbutt, Zidane is normally a very calm guy, doesn't let things bother him so much.......so the guy probably deserved the headbutt!! Zidane's a great player, totally deserved the award!
Zidane had like 2k of vote and an Italian player had 1.9k. Anyway Klose of germany won the Golden shoe scoring 5goals.
zidane deserves the g-ball award of course....regardless of the headbutt .....i really don't think he would headbutt someone just for no reason
he deserved just about i guess, the voters didnt exactly have alot of options, no one stood out, the italian players that stood out were mostly defenders. A defender winning the golden ball isnt a good sign for the tourny
Obviously he deserves it, he's retiring, he's a excellent player, he's usually calm (it much be that stupid guy ticked him off)
he's deserves it...but its really sad that everyone will remember him for what he did last. (redcard)
i think he'll b happy that he's remembered like that ... but then he does have good skills to be rememberd by
i think his amazing career will put this incident on the back burner...he did after all still get the golden ball.
zidane speaks out about the head butt incident! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060712/ap_on_sp_so_ne/soc_zidane_4;_ylt=Aio_QK1lg6j75QD3SErRpZpLtKcv;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl
