dumbest thing mavs did was get rid of chandler and take apart the championship team... who does that?
yeh but that's asking too much from a guy returning from an ACL injury. They're not going to transform from average-mid top tier team to championship caliber team once D-Rose comes back in just one month. March - Playoff time is roughly a month worth of time. They won't be ready to contend this year. At best, I say they get eliminated in the 2nd round and won't make it to the conference finals. I will say this however, given a month - two month season for Rose and a whole entire offseason and training camp, the Bulls will be up there again with no doubt, but they're gonna need another role player or add another star next to Rose if they serious about winning the whole thing.
Once Phil jackson comes back , the season will be more interesting to watch. When the Lakers meet the Heat in Dec, it will be the must watch game of the this season so far.
mike d'antoni?! phil was obviously my first choice, but mike was my second and if kobe's on board, i'm on board! showtime lakers are back!
D'Antoni will do wonders with Nash and Howard. Defense is a concern, but he was the coach of the Knicks last season who saw a major boost in their defense (5th in the league). Of course he had Tyson Chandler and Shumpert to help him out, but Howard isn't too shabby on the defensive end either. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
lol no thank you. I bleed green for life. but yeh, Mike D'toni coaching the lakers = suns 2.0 pick and roll all day long with Nash and Howard...this dude can't control a locker room. Love it
I pretty much think D'Antoni will fail...his Run & Gun system with the Suns was good, but at that time Nash was at his best, not now being almost 40. If something the Lakers are not is a fast team...his gameplay already failed with the Knicks and it will fail again with the Lakers. Besides D'Antoni isn't the best coach to handle all the strong egos in the Lakers team.
lol u have so much hate for the lakers... fact is Nash and D12 are the best players of their positions when it comes to pick n roll... this hire, is plain as day as to where the Lakers brass wants the team to go... D12 is the future, Kobe is just a nice piece to help everyone else get open and to take the final 2mins over like always... Gasol will get about 10 open looks per game, MWP will just sit in the corner all day... if not MWP, Meeks can come in and drop some 3s as well, Blake is decent from range too... and srsly, do you think Nash 2yrs ago is faster than the current Nash? plz... D'Antoni failed in NYK cuz Melo absolutely needs the ball in his hands, no point guard could play their game with Melo on their team...

Nash is far from done, one thing you have to understand his game is not as dependent on his athleticism and youth as a Derrick Rose, or Russell Westbrook. Aoes was right. Dwight Howard is one of the best pick and roll players in the league. He got a lot of his baskets off a screen and roll in Orlando. About New York, D'Antoni's offence was 7th in efficiency per 100 possessions during 2010-11 and that was with Raymond Felton. He had outside shooters, a decent (at the time) PG, and one of the best PnR players in the league. similar situation in LA. D'Antoni is a very specific offensive coach and I believe the Lakers are basically made for his offence. The only concern like I said before would be the outside shooting. MWP, Kobe and all other guards/wings will need to be able to shoot from outside efficiently to make this offence a REAL threat. However... Still cheering for the Lakers to lose.
He's not a top tier pg... Rose, CP3, Rondo, DWill, Kyrie and Nash are top tier pg with Parker borderlining top tier... Lin is borderline second tier in my eyes... second tier being Jennings, Curry, Wall, etc... Lin really is about as valuable as Dragic or Lowry at this point... if Lin can mesh even further the rest of the season with Harden, and the Rockets get the 8th spot... I don't see why he can't be argued to be atleast 2nd tier...
problem with Lin right now is they are not going to him... Houston lied about his role or since harden came they've made no frequent plays for Lin to score.. they are rarely doing pick and rolls for him. Right now his role is just passing, i can't blame him since Houston is not drawing up any plays for him as everything is made for Harden so he has to create his own shots which is why he's not shooting well right now. If they want to take him seriously and take the stress and ball off Harden, they've got to play pick and roll with him as with any other point guard but so far almost every pick and roll and set play is made for Harden rather then Lin. I gotta face palm the many times he's set up the ball for Asik and the team yet they keep fumbling and turning it over ruining his assist stats. For the air ball yea i gotta falmpalm to that but now im going to look for him to step up his game and make up for it.
I'm sorry, any team that makes Lin the first option or a scoring option are due to be doomed in the long run. Lin is not a real offensive threat. AOES put it the best. He is at best a 2nd tier pg, and is currently a borderline 2nd tier... Rondo, Cp3, Deron Williams, Nash, Parker and Rose are all top tier pgs, because of their ability to perform at the highest level during playoffs. Yeh, Lin did well in short stints with the NYK, but he hasn't proved shit in the playoffs and as to why he should be commanding such a high salary. The Harden trade really made the Lin signing better, because if it is just Lin and Asik, that team will not go anywhere.
I still think the Lakers will fail and D'Antoni will fail also...we'll see. Regarding Lin, he's just a good player, but till now he hasnt proof himself as a star. I like him and wish he can do good in the NBA but he still has a long way to become a top tier player. The good thing is that he's more mediatic than a lot of the top tier pg, i guess that was one of the reasons the Rockets signed him.
