2012-2013 NBA Season - The Heat! Repeat!

  1. do you even know the players the rockets have? Hence why lin is a scoring option better then any of these guys.. You can say he's unproven for anything because he's new but he's showed u with the knicks that he's no ordinary point guard he just needs time to adjust coming from the same knee surgery chris paul had whom took a full year to recover back to his normal game. That being said, he's no ordinary point guard is an worthy of being in a starter position but no way in the likes of Deron Williams,Nash etc.. he's still young and we'll see given 5+ years to know

on the other hand Lin is technically on his first/second year as he's never had playing time till now, didn't practice with the squad due to injury, still learning with harden and you want to compare that to alot of the greats

    Steve nash third year stats

    7.9 ppg , 5.5 assist

    Rondo 11.9 ppg 8.2 assist

Jason kidd 9.9 ppg 9.1 assist

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    Jeremy Lin (currently)

    11.9 ppg 6.4 assists

so by your standards these guys are scrubs too and they've had what 2 and a half full seasons of full playing time more then lin during their third year

Deron Williams may be good but he's always on a losing team so does that make him terrible too? and you know what? even great players make air balls too.

  2. As bad as Kevin Mchale is as a Coach.. he needs to get his ass back to coaching rather having Sampson take over atm.. This fool benches Lin for entire OT and opted for Tony Douglas who was doing like crap the entire game. They are so caught up on Harden the first 2 games that the only pick and roll plays are for Harden.. All the top point guards play pick and roll yet none exists for Lin.. If you're going to invest in him and see what he does best then drew up some freakin plays at least like what they did in new york was set a screen... Lin's ball usage is 7th on the team meaning Delfino comes off the bench and touches the ball more then him..like wtf he's a point guard? why is he not getting the ball? Harden seems like hes doing well but in reality he's gettin stuffed left and right and chucking up 3's makin bad shots shootin %30.. The coaching on this team is bad.. bad enough to start Tony Douglas overtime..

Make some pick and roll plays for Lin like they did in new york.. hell every point guard needs a screen, thats basic how stupid is this team to keep trying it with harden and have him fail at %30.. do it for Lin and they will see success. They are overlooking him again since Harden came... its like he has to prove himself over again working with nothing.

    -end of rant

part of the decisions the rockets made so far on lin have been bout his knee... don't need to push it too hard too early... secondly Lin is technically still unproven, he's only started a grand total of 34games, can you honestly say w/o a doubt in your mind that he's going to produce like he did during linsanity?

and it's not like Lin is starting from 0 man... he's still getting shots, he's just shooting terribly right now... he's shooting worse than Harden...

  4. hell no to hes shootin worse then harden, harden gets all the shots all the screens and he shoots like crap.. Most of shots Lin are from 3 point range or a layup he creates by himself. The point is they are not making pick and roll plays for him to get into the paint rather only pass it outside as the last option. I see that as a waste of his talent or what they are paying him for.. They are so stuck up on Harden that everything goes to him even when hes bricking shots. He's playing like Melo pre-this season. Set a screen for Lin.. if they can do it for Harden then why not Lin? its cuz they are so stuck up on him after the first two games or they are undermining him rather they believe Harden is a one man team but if it continues then they'll continue to lose.

having him not play a minute of overtime really proves my point, what bone head does that to a starer? a noob ass coach. rather what the hell is Tony Douglas doing in OT over Lin?

I'm not against Lin guys... but you also have to keep it in perspective... Lin is NOT an allstar point, even pre-Harden this wasn't going to be Lin's team... Lin is also shooting terribly outside of free throws, hell he's not only shooting worse than Harden, he's shooting worse than MWP, that says a lot... but I give credit where credit's due, he's making better decisions on his passing, he is playing reliably on defense and makes plays...

this team has no identity right now, let them find what works and what doesn't... obviously the first 3 games where harden blew up dictated the decisions made so far in coaching, what isn't broke don't fix it right? the current rockets are a .500 ball club, let them gel a year and find what works and what doesn't...

srsly slow your rolls... new coach, new system, new team, new players, harden jumps a wk before the season starts... ffs let this gel...

  7. yes sayin if they are considering to have harden-lin 2 guard franchise then what the hell are they doing not setting plays for lin.. so exactly they gotta wake up and realize it just isn't going to work with everything going to harden.. New York figured this late and Houston is going to figure it out the same.. How can they overlook him again? yea cuz he's asian. If the coaching is smart or competent, they are going to find out and adjust real soon. No1's sayin Lin's an allstar but they are undermining him so bad they are wasting his potential esp when the whole team is full of scrubs why are they not making plays for him? it doesn't make sense unless they are undermining him or too caught up on harden.. they are going to figure it out soon.

As a point guard, you don't need people to make play for you. You are the one making them, you can easily change the strategy and create your own shoot.
PG is my favorite spot, my ball handling is not the best but I like settting up my team mates by getting the double team because I usually drive by my defenser without a screen without any fancy crossover or dribling. It's all about center of gravity and going as low as possible and as fast as possible. And I'm good at drive stop fade away jump shoting, it's my favorite move. But it hurts my knees a lot so I rather not use it too much.

But Lin is a terrible shooter and doesn't drive much anymore because of his knee. That sucks a bit for him but he is not a top 15 point guard anyway. He is really overpaid. You see guy like Mike Conley ? He is under rated but damn his stats are great.

On the other hand, Bynum is seriously gay, I just hate people who are paid millions of dollars for sitting on the bench (Gordon, Arenas, Bynum).
He injured his freaking knee by playing bowling ? Are you kidding me ? Is he serious ? Again a gay player who got his contract and is relaxing doing shit ? (Arenas)

  9. as i said the Rockets are full of scrubs so why not use Lin more and make plays for him rather then Harden most of the time they could split the screens... they are undermining him or they are lying to him since they said Lin would of been the face of the Rockets before Harden came.. And are you kidding me as a point guard you don't need someone to make plays to help you get into the paint? try shooting over a 7 footer and you'd know you'd need a screen to get in there.. The only people who could get in there alot of the times without a screen are guys like cp and rose. If they are going to spend that much on Lin then wtf are they doing not using him to his full potential? they are just making him pass the ball all day and whats worse is half of these noobs can't even finish in the paint or half of his assists. They are the youngest team in the nba so i guess they really are scrubs..

I hope he gets traded to a team that'll value him and can finish under the rim... But since its a new coach again they are starting over again.. By now if Mchale wasn't away he would of already figured to make plays for Lin rather then just Harden bricking terrible shots to pad his stats.

If they were actually makin plays for him and he was doin so terrible then yea i would say he's doin bad but the point is they are not using him rather Harden then Lin as a last kick out the ball option then he'll drive in and do his thing or shoot a 3 pointer because he has to.. Do a freakin proper pick and roll (screen) like in New York.. Asik is freakin tall how hard is it to do that since he's always doin it with Harden. It's like they only have one option to do a pick and roll and its Harden? wtf this is seriously stupid coaching, thats why Kevin Mchale's career coaching record is under .500 cuz he's terrible.

dude... calling lin+harden a 2guard franchise is too much already... Lin is NOT a franchise type player... Linsanity was 7games of extremes... Lin is a top 15pg, yes I can name atleast 10pgs better than Lin... so what does that make him? an above average player at his position... Lin at best is a 16/8asts/2stls per game player... AT BEST... and he's NOT starting over... he's the starting point guard for an NBA franchise, how the hell are you gonna bring up race in this? Because he's not getting as many plays? the dude is getting 34mpg!!!

I'm sure you know this, but most teams ride the hot hand... who's hot? Harden... who's not? Lin...

Lin is overpaid for the player he is... everyone knows this, else he'd still be in NY... He was paid for his name, for being asian, for the $$$$$ that comes with selling his jersey to China and half the asian population that dreams of being in the NBA...

Srsly, take a chill pill, his knee is obviously not 100% or he's taking extra precautions with it... and the Rockets are not full of scrubs... Parsons, Delfino and Asik are good players, Toney Douglas is an able backup guard... Patrick Patterson is finally getting HIS shot after playing almost nothing with Scola in front of him always... Step back, breathe... Take Lin for what he is, ur seriously getting angry as if the Rockets organization is stumping his growth into a mega superstar, something that he isn't and very likely will never be...

you want an explanation about the overtime business with Toney Douglas? it's because of Lin's knee...

  11. You know i was waitin for all of you Lin haters to come out bright and early of the season to bash him but get ready to eat crow when the Rockets finally realize Harden can't do everything alone.

You are still not getting the point here or the situation of the team.. I'm saying why pay Lin so much if they are not going to utilize him to their potential, its a waste of their money or better yet the coaching sucks esp after they put TD is overtime really confirmed it. If they are playing him 34 a game then they are not worried about his knee esp when Sampson avoided questions being asked about why Lin wasn't put in instead nothing about his knee came up. If you can tell me Lin is not their #2 player definitely then you have a point but truth is he is their second best player and if they want to win games those 2 have got to produce and score because the team the rockets have are a bunch of scrubs at this point in their careers. If you really think Harden was hot before the last game he was shootin %30 while lin was %35 and he sure as hell had far less attempts..

Point is if he was in a team with decent players with experience then yea it would be ok with him just as a play maker but not in this case because they are a very young team and they need him to step it up with Harden to bring the points yet they are not letting him do so atm. Not until they realize they are going to need Lin to score at least 15-8 a game to win.

*edit on the plus side, during the portland game i was starting to see screens being set up for him.

 who is hating? srsly if i'm hatin' you have blinders on...

last 4 games including the last portland game... Lin's only shot 30.3%... IN 4 GAMES... Harden in the same 4 games has shot 43.4%... who's hatin?

meanwhile... Parsons is chipping in at 41%, 16/7reb/3thrs/3asts per game... and he's a "scrub"... who's hatin?

    your questions...

why pay him so much if he's not going to be utilized "to his potential"(i srsly don't even know what you consider his potential, again Linsanity were extremes, like Harden's first 2 games as a Rocket)?

Lets first get this outta the way, he is overpaid at 3yrs/25mil... and he's being overpaid because the Rockets wanted a name they can market, and they got the absolute best point guard they could get that they could market in Lin, whom could help them sell countless jerseys and get the Rockets franchise another boost in asia... Lin being overpaid is about the money... how overpaid is Lin? to me, he's 10mil overpaid...

Why was Lin's knee not brought up? Coaching sucks blah blah, more hate on McHale, blah...

As a coach, do you want to make excuses for your player? or would you rather eat up the media hatorade and keep your player mentally stable? Lin is an honest, smart smart guy... but you saw that last yr with the Knicks when he told the world he was only 80% and couldn't play in the playoffs... give 80% to Derrick Rose, and he'd be playing balls out right now...

Lin as their second best player?

Yes, I'll agree he's the second best player... but shooting at under 35% for the year... he's not even the 3rd BEST OPTION... Lin's playmaking, defense and general ball IQ make him the second best player... his scoring, is below average right now... 1st option:Harden, 2nd option:parsons, 3rd option:Asik... Lin is asked to be a pass first point... he's not asked to be Westbrick or DRose... they're not asking Lin to carry the team, try to understand this...

No team in the NBA right now would plug Lin into their starting roster and ask him to perform like the other score first point guards... the GM would lose their job immediately...

so getting to your "points"... the Rockets are not full of "scrubs"... Harden is an allstar, Asik is a double double machine and defends well enough, and Parsons is coming into his own... what is wrong with Lin being a facilitator? How in the hell can you keep complaining as if he's back to playing 5mins a game with Golden State? Lets have Lin play 40mins a game, jack 20shots a night with screens/pick and rolls in all of them!

I think both of you guys are right in certain points.

-Lin indeed has more potential than what he's showing now, but again it is his knee that keeps him from giving his 100%

-Lin ain't no Harden and he's definitely not an all star, but he if he plays at a decent level he can give Harden a lot of minutes of rest.

-Let's be honest, the Rockets didn't sign Lin to become their franchise player, as Aoes said, this is all about marketing...how much money do you think the Rockets made when they had Yao Ming with them...now how much will they make again with Lin. China is currently the biggest market in the world.

This said doesn't mean Lin will only be a shirt seller, is more up to him and whether he can get show the world he's not only a 7 game guy, obviously he needs the help of his team, coach and of course time.

PD: I do agreed with Hado that Harden is hugging a lot and making all the shots...greedy

  14. Dammit Harden is back means no more pick and roll plays for Lin, I hope they realize now they gotta make plays for him more.

  15. big time shot by TD tonight i gotta give it up to him. Lin struggled but wasn't gettin any calls either, can't wait for the Knicks game for redemption.

It will definitely be an interesting season this year.
