@Mav: Me jealous!!!! How long did it take you to master all those languages? And yeah, French exam really sucks because I never manage to remember the "gender" of the vocabulary... @Dim8sum: Not a huge fan of Corona, but it's the best thing when you need to get drunk fast and cheap.
We Dutch start learning foreign languages at a very young age. It is very necessary, since Holland is too small and the neighbours are too big. So in order to be competitive we need to know what they are talking about
@XJ: Otherwise some people's singing is difficult to suffer through if you are sober. I am talking about getting drunk at Ks. And getting people drunk @Mav: Wow, I wish I can do the same... but what languages are your absolute best (with most practice I am sure it's Dutch, but besides that)?
^ JEALOUS! I want to learn German (besides French, of course) too... I heard it's an easy language to learn but difficult to master. With very logical rules and no exceptions. Myth or fact?
^haha.. the foreign languages modules available in my school are Japanese, French, German and some others that I can't recall. And most ppl say that German is the easiest to learn.. so Mav, is that true
I find Japanese not THAT bad if you have some knowledge of Chinese (otherwise, the whole pictograph thing can be quite problematic) French is hard... I have yet meet a person learning French (not mother tongue) saying French is EASY. But I know quite a few telling me that German is easy to pick up (everyday conversation wise, not writing a philosophy paper wise)
haha.. I'm not a language person.. so I'll just stick to the few I can handle. I can't even fully grasp cantonese yet..
hiake: both. But for traditional I need to read in a text and not single word by word.. lol.. is this the beer thread? mav is so going to kill us..
@Hiake: If you know Dutch and English, you already have a good basis for learning the German language. @XJ: Yes, from those three German is the easiest. I guess that Japanese is the most difficult, since there grammar is different. They almost talk like Yoda. I have tried to learn some Japanese, since I was also in Tokyo and noticed that the Japanese are very poor in foreign languages. @All: This is a beer thread. Looks like we are all suffering from a hang-over ... hik ... LOL
^ But I don't even know Dutch TT_TT And yeah, it's a beer thread. I just had a Hoegaarden tonight, it's great Particularly if you had a light meal before (I didn't drink it during meal, how sad) And yay for hik. Hiccupy drunk aren't you, Mav?
the taste and smell of beer makes me sick. but most of the men in our family love beer. usually lite beer.
neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeecroooooooooooooooooooooo, this thread was laid to rest over two an a half years ago.
Singaporean Gov is discouraging Singaporeans to drink and drive. But Singapore doesn't encourage Singaporean to drink either .You should go and visit those coffee shops in the district area and you'll realize that all of them are all Singaporean.
