AKB48 smashed another sales record with their latest single,”Everyday, Kachuusha“, as it’s been revealed that the girls sold 1.52 million copies! AKB48’s single is the first in nearly five and a half years to break 1.5 million copies in four weeks. The last artists to do so were KAT-TUN’s Kamenashi Kazuya and NEWS‘ Yamashita Tomohisa, when they teamed up for the single “Seishun Amigo” back in 2005. As for female artists, the last release to break 1.5 million copies during this time span was when MISIA released her single “Everything” nearly eleven years ago. It’s the fifth time “Everyday, Kachuusha” made headlines for being a record-breaker. Back when it hit stores, it sold nearly one million copies by the first week; it also broke Mr. Children’s reign on the charts, dominated Oricon’s monthly single ranking, and even charted on the United World Chart.
