ITEM: HAND GRENADES... A lot!!! Given the ending scene, I suppose one would wish for a lot of grenades or other portable ordnance. But seriously, speaking of explosives... Spoiler: considering that in the final scene... ...the building was blasted with a fuel air explosive, which creates primarily a massive high pressure wave; why didn't the windshield in the camper get blown out? And does anyone know if or when season 2 will come along? This should has got to generate a following. *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. renewed for season 2, but i doubt it's gonna be aired anytime soon. my guess is gonna be early 2012. late 2011 would be awesome though lol. dexter's coming to an end too. :(
I expect season 2 will be in fall of next year, if we are lucky, maybe sooner. Depending on the situation, a few machete or a chainsaw. It's just too messy.
anybody wants to take a guess WHAT THE HECK DID THE DOCTOR WHISPER TO RICK as they were trying to leave the exploding building ??? my guess is: rick's wife is pregnant, based on the blood test haha the director of walking dead first brought the project to NBC, but was rejected....somehow they found AMC, but instead of agreeing just the first episode aka the pilot episode, AMC signed on for six episodes (so if the show fails to draw ratings, it'll be gone after six weeks, no sweat)....with plans to release it during halloween, which is right in the middle of their two-week Fearfest programming, usually draw high ratings...the rest is history according to the comics, SHANE, died....but not in this show....i guess he still wanted to bang rick's wife one more time lolz and introduce Hershel, them setting up shop at the prison, The Governor, and Michonne, samurai sword-wielding a black chick ..very popular in the comics
ITEM: WALKIE TALKIES I think you mean a black chick wielding a samurai sword, don't you? Although the other way around may be pretty interesting too. At any rate, regarding Jenner, at the CDC; I'm not sure that he would have cared to keep Rick's wife pregnancy a secret. I mean, why would he have had reason to? He had no way of knowing about the illicit affair between Shane and Rick's wife. That is, of course, unless he was watching an internal monitor and saw Shane making a move on her in the library (where she then scratched his face). Remembering how Shane recalled the evacuation scene in the hospital, maybe this may be revealed via a flashback sequence in a later episode? Also, I'm not sure why they decided to keep Shane alive in the series** but I suspect it has something to do with having an anti-hero character for the audience to identify with. It's hard to have folks just focus on zombies, as they become a dime a dozen and don't hold any real interest in so far as plot. They're the dumb animal of the series. What the show needs is someone who is cunning and who works against the hero, undermining the good guy's efforts because of personal agenda. In other words, there has to be someone for us to hate. So in that sense, they really can't kill him off... yet. And about the program scheduling; what are they; stupid? They have one of the hottest shows on television in years, and they're going to wait for nearly a year before another episode comes out for season 2? By that time, I hope there are plenty of knockoffs to divide the attention span of the audience and they wind up losing market share for their monumental stupidity. I'm sure that there's plenty of others who want to cash in on a zombies series now that it's been proven to have a tangible and sizable audience. -rolleyes *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. Thanks to all who participate. ** In the Comic Series, issue 006, Shane confronts Rick and reveals that he is angry that Rick survived, returning to reunite with Lori and Carl, thus ruining his chances of ever stealing Lori. He loses control, and levels his shotgun at Rick, appearing about to murder Rick, when Rick's little boy, Carl, shoots Shane in the neck, killing him.
The comic is definitely a lot different to the actual acting. I didnt know that the episode jsut shown was the last in te series! SHOCK HORROR!
ITEM: FLAMETHROWER Well, it's the 'last' episode for the first season. Like someone previously explained, this was only meant to be a pilot series, and not a full season. So the story ended without any suspenseful cliff hangers. AMC then had to decide whether they would continue to pick it up or not. They apparently did, but their anticipated scheduling is horrible. There's going to be such a huge gap that audiences will lose interest and people are going to forget and move on to something else. Be that as it may... One of the pet peeve things that I've always thought about is the improbable nature of the physiologic mechanics of zombism (zombiesm, zombification, ie. when one dies and becomes reanimated, etc). Scientifically, IMHO, it is actually quite impossible. The premise that the brain somehow controls the body with some sort of basic primordial feeding instinct and that the body can then go on forever, is a non starter insofar as human physiology is concerned. Even something simple (like walking) requires a tremendous cascade of interdependent biochemical events that these 'walkers' would no longer be in possession or be capable of. For example, without a heartbeat, which brings nutrient and oxygen ladened blood to the muscles and other functional tissues (needed for locomotion, ie walking), the muscle cells would eventually lose their cohesiveness and fall into a non functional state. That is, the cell stops being a cell, and instead becomes a useless mass of organic goo as there isn't enough ongoing intracellular metabolism to maintain its structural integrity. Hence, in the final analysis, there comes a point that the dead body will decay and stop functioning altogether, regardless if the brain is sending out nerve impulses or not. So, the walker, per se, would no longer be able to walk at all. That of course, would not make for much of a show so I understand why the writers didn't ever dwell too much on science. It just is, and it sells, LOL... And another thing, the idea seen in ep 02, where one of the walkers is using a chunk of rock to break through the glass door of the department store? Not possible without higher brain function. In basic anthropology, that is known as using a tool, and requires higher brain function which these walkers supposedly no longer possess. *And a new game for any like minded would be zombie fighter survivalist; with every new entry into this thread, precede your post first with an item that you think would be helpful in a post zombie apocalypse world. This is a good first season, another comic adaptation that should be made is Y: The Last Man (It's unfortunate it going to be made into a movie instead).
