^ I agree. There's no need to watch the Hollywood remake if it's basically the same storyline with actors who are already well-known so you can already imagine their performance as whoever they are and of course, money makes the world go round so even though they bought the rights to Infernal Affairs, it's still best with a Chinese cast and the original script in Chinese, because you just can't translate certain dialogue and produce the same reaction.

i just watched the departed recently and i have to say i was pretty dissappointed. there were lots of characters that weren't completely developed. mark wahlberg's character was pretty random. and having the same girl was stupid. i really liked how in infernal affair sammi cheng's character added to his guilt with her book. basically departed sucked in comparison to infernal affairs.

I think it is sad how The Departed makes it seem like Martin Scorsece (sp?) did it all and was the ultimate figure behind this movie. It seems like it wasn't even a remake from the Chinese verison and credit isn't due where it should be. They bought the copyrights, but the trailers give all the credit to this director. Similar to Hero, credit was given to Quentin Tarentino for it cause he got the rights and with Miramax produced it in the States.

I do agree with Andy about the same female character. It was good to know that they interacted with each other, but to have the same female lead put to much twist on it. I guess it was hollywood's way of making it their own.

To my surprise they kept many of the key scenes from the original movie.
I feel the Scorsese's version of the movie is more raw and gritty whereas the original version was intense and poetic.
I have to say I liked the original better, no arguments there.
