no matter how strict the law is, or how much restriction they make, things like these r gonna happen over and over again. Guns dont kill pplz; pplz kills pplz.
^ As I have said before, you don't see this kind of school shooting in Hong Kong or Japan where gun control is tighter. When access to gun is limited, the crazy person has 2 choice: either to find a gun via any means possible (it's not that easy when gun control is tight) or use a weapon which is less destructive or less able in quantitative killing. After all, few people can conjure a gun out of nothing.
they just arrested the guy who killed a graduate student at duke. great ice cube music video NewAzNSensation. never seen it before
like i said before even if you reduce the availability of guns if a person wants to commit harm they will...so you got rid of the gums making a pipe bomb or some sort of bomb is not very difficult with the availability of many house hold materials. Google it and the first thing that comes up is a 23 page document teaching you how to make bombs from basic stuff you can buy from a hardware story or super market on top of that gun control in america really ist going to be very hard since the bill of rights 2nd ammendment states the right to bare arms. those this ammendment has had lots of controversy many americans take it to believe that they have the "right" to have a firearm....this isn't seen in the laws in Hong Kong or Japan..so its hard to compare the us to them. On top of that, many gun companies higher high powered lobbiest to work the senate and house on bills that will hurt their bottom line
there's no method of stopping these type of events from happening, aside from catching the guy from losing his mind before it actually happens, these stuff are inevitable regardless of the gun control or any other type of control -.-
I don't know, it all depends on how desperate said person is I guess. Googling instruction (then proceed to making it by hand) cannot be easier than just go to a local Wal-Mart and ask for a gun now would it? In fact, it at least takes certain handiwork to MAKE a bomb, not to mention that it take TIME. I wonder how effective the bomb is to kill a person. Personally, 100 injured is better than 1 dead. I read that one of the dead victim was a "retired" military, her "retired" because her family thought it's dangerous for her to remain in the military (assigned to the middle East), she then go on and study to become a primary school teacher. Then misfortune struck. I don't understand the bill of rights, so I am not going to argue on that point. I personally think it's a vicious cycle to bear arms. But I guess it all comes down to everyone's bottom line, refusal to believe that gun control will reduce gun violence, refusal to believe that those SUVs and trucks are polluting the air we breath (climate change issue aside). To a certain extent, some parts of the US still live like the 1900's: sex before marriage is a sin (not that anyone talk about it), extreme right-wing, resorting to violence and discrimination. Whatever float the boat for them, but I hate to see that happening anywhere close to home. So I can't wait til the Conservatives get kicked out.
heh...unfortunately you can't purchase a gun at wal-mart you gotta go to a specialize dealer to purchase the gun and its not as simple as you think....guns purchased for all of these school shottings have been bought from gun speciality stores where they actually do a background check before they actually sell you the gun. The dude form the recent shoting had a background check done before he bought the gun and he passed...no prior history, nothing...clean as a white board Since your emphasizing TIME...these people seem to have the time to plot of these shootings...so making a bomb is well possible. Bombs if your in the direct blast radius your screwed, shrapnal will also kill people...its all really how you look at the bomb maker and what they were really trying to do. we can speculate and say change this or change that but it would really help change the fact that it will happen regardelss of what you do...
No gun? You sure? I guess I must have been misinformed... I remember reading about it, along with the banking incentive advertisement (open an account, get a gun?!), guess it's time I dig that article out and re-read it again. What kind of history are they looking for? Insanity? I don't know, to me anyone wanting a gun is odd enough, guess it's a cultural difference. And your attitude implies giving up on improving the system? And I thought Canada's "if it's not broken, don't fix it" attitude was backward. That's a whole new level, "even if it's broken, don't fix it (because it doesn't help?)"
upon further diggin there are articles saying that they used to sell guns but have started banning them and had many policy changes in the year and in recent years completely stopped selling them i'd say a law enforcement offical would have to tell you what exactly is constituted in a background check for firearms but i know they do a criminal history check, and probably some basic medical history check but i wouldn't be able to tell you how indepth in your medical history do they go. I mean they can go very deap or just on the top...but with the "excellent" medical system that we have in the US you can get medicla records for the state that your in and not records from other states without making a request for charts from that that hospital that you were admitted to. This is something that US needs to look into.... my attitude is we can improve the system as much as we can but there is no way we can truely stop these types of shotings. if they want to do it there really isn't any way to stop them. I get the feeling that you think we can change things by adjusting the laws here and there and maybe banning guns but you don't take into account human nature or human illogical thinkgin pattern/behavior
The thing about a vast country such as the United States (and to a certain extent, Canada), is that there is multi-level government. Multi-level government (such as State level/ Provincial level, County level and federal level) lends the system to exploitation because of differences between different states/counties in policy making. It is useless if the policy regarding firearm (or practically anything, tobacco and whatnot) is not consistent everywhere within the nation. People can very well purchase "illegal objects" in a state where it is legal and bring it back home. I sometimes don't understand the system, guess it takes years within the system to see the logic behind it.
