みなさん、こんにちは。 私も日本語の勉強をしています。私は一年生です。リサと言います。はじめまして。 ひらがなもかたかなも分かりますけど、かんじは少しだけですね。 (minasan, konnichiwa. watashi mo nihongo no benkyou o site imasu. watasi wa ichinen sei desu. risa (lisa) to iimasu. hajimemashite. hiragana mo katakana mo wakarimasu kedo, kanji wa sukoshi dake desu ne. = hello everybody! I am also studying japanese. I am a first-year student as well. my name is lisa. nice to meet you. I know hiragana and katakana, but only a little bit of kanji . . . )
also if you want to type japanese characters, go to your computers control panel. then "regional and language options". click on the "languages" tab, and check the checkbox at the bottom that says "install files for east asian languages". click "OK" to get out of that, then go back into "regional and language options" and click on "details" (again from the "languages" tab). click the "add..." button the right side and add japanese. : ) to see the language bar, click on the "language bar..." button at the bottom and select "show on desktop". now whenever you want to type in japanese, just change it from EN to JP and you should be able to type in romaji and get the corresponding japanese characters.

Ohaiyo gouzaimas. Watashiwa Nihoungouka skoushi wakarismass. Jouzou ge arimassenn. Translated to: Good morning. I understand Japanese a little. But im not very good. @davo2097: I recommend u watch as much anime as possible (Japanese language with English subs). Thats pretty much how i picked up the language. You will start to memorize words that are said often and u start to pronounce words well as time passes. P.S. I know a bit more Japanese that what i wrote at the top. LOL (It was just an example) If you want to listen to some Japanese audio/ learn through watching videos or even reading books, i recommend u download this as well. I downloaded it and have started some of the lessons. They are quite good. Gonna do them everyday in the Summer Hols. http://www.mininova.org/tor/182496 I know its a lot to download but it will be worth it when u can speak and write Japanese fluently. Good Luck
konnichi wa!! I'm from NZ too...LOL...yea, I'm trying to learn Japanese by myself, but since I'm so busy with Uni stuff I just don't have much time to... Have you listened to JapanesePod101 from itunes?? http://www.japanesepod101.com/index.php I find it quite helpful, and if you sign up for the stuff there you can get like PDF files on their lessons. It's really good! The lessons there are really great!!! recommend!!! ja ne
